Two of Kennedy's brothers, John and Robert, are buried at Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River from Washington. A defense official confirmed to NBC News that the senator will be buried there as well.

Any sitting or former senator is eligible for burial at Arlington, but Kennedy's military service alone does not qualify him for burial there since he did not retire from the Armed Forces.
