Kennedy was the only Democratic senator who tried to dispell the popular perception of Quayle as an airheaded lintball. He co-sponsored bills with him and publically deemed him a capable senator.

My mother's sister (no longer considered "my aunt") called my 83 year old mother today to say how sick she is of hearing about Ted Kennedy. This woman is in her mid 70s, and is a rabid neo-con. Her estranged husband, who made her a wealthy woman, is a solid Democrat, as were his parents, who also paved the way for this woman's wealth. And did I mention she was "tipsy" when she called my mom at 1:00 this afternoon?

These knuckle draggers have no moral bearing. God, how I loathe them. Didn't we just have a number of threads on DU about the passing of Robert Novak, asking that DUers remain classy? We expressed compassion and sympathy for all his family was going through. Not so with the rabid right. And yet, they continue to benefit from the many, many initiatives spearheaded by the Kennedy men.
