Nancy Reagan with Chris Matthews
Mrs Reagan said if Ted had been in there fighting we would have a bill passed by now. When asked if she wanted us to pass health care reform bill she said, "Yes. I don't know enough about the bill but I hope we get something."

1. Right Wingers will never diss the Great Nancy but they stopped listening to her
when she cost Oliver North a senate election, and certainly by the time she went all human and shit on stem cells.

2. This is why I always allow for the possibility of people to change,
and fight the temptation to throw back at people things they did or said 20 years ago. She knows what the issues are, and is looking at them rationally. Always a good thing.

5. I don't want to sound cruel
But she doesn't have to agree with everything her husband says any longer.

9. From what I've read, it was Nancy, her family & their conservative friends
who turned Reagan into a Republican. He was a Democrat until the early '60s. I think that watching her husband deteriorate in the ravages of Alzheimer's had much to do with any change in her feeling. I went through it with my Mom and I know I'm not the same person. Perhaps she realizes that most people who suffer from the disease don't have the care that her husband did. In any case, I'm glad she made that statement.

12. I heard it was Nancy's father who talked Ronnie into becoming conservative.

3. I heard the interview and was glad to hear Mrs. Reagan wanted
"something". This is personal ammunition to use with my 93 year old Republican mother!

4. She was on Hardball?
She's pretty old and frail, I would think. I didn't think she was up for something like this.

Freepers will have her in the same communistic cell as Michelle Obama tomorrow.

6. Rethugs have voted against Kennedy's health care for decades
Spare me the spin and check the votes. They were even against minimum wage and SCHIP. I'm not buying it from McGramps, Hatch or Nancy Reagan - they've been working on this spin for days.

7. I think Nancy has always been a closet Democrat.
Really.

It would not have surprised me if she punched her vote for Obama back in November.

Of course, she'd never dare speak of that.

11. I bet you're right - she detests McCain too
One thing Nancy and I have in common!
Of course, she actually knows him (more reason to detest). But she was friends with his first wife so knows the real McCain.

I remember reading her tepid "endorsement" of McCain, something like, "Well, Ronnie and I always supported the Party's nominee." So I figured: another vote for Obama!

13. Hard to say...
She raised one helluva Democrat in Ron Jr. and one helluva wingnut in Michael Reagan. If nothing else, seeing how Ron Jr. turned out might have influenced her. Amazing how two kids raised in the same house are so fundamentally different.
