I'm pretty sure that lack of affordable healthcare helped kill my wife

She saw the doctor the day before and he urged her to go to the ER and get some tests run.
She didn't want to go because the copay was $150.
Between her COBRA, copays and out of network, we were spending $1000/mo on medical for her alone. That was over 50% of her take home.
She didn't tell me what the doctor wanted because I damn sure would have took her to the ER and come up with the $150.

I agree with you. A lot of us won't go to a doctor or hospital because we're afraid of the costs of health care in this country.

When we should be worrying about the disease or getting better our first thought is how am I going to afford this?

Maybe Donna is having a nice chat with Senator Kennedy about now. I hope she is at peace.

I don't want to sound insensitive but have you considered sending this story to Senator Sanders? He is collecting stories to counter the claims of ours being the "best health care system in the world" and this is certainly the type of thing he'd want to hear about.

It seems to me there are far too many who are willing to let fellow Americans die for their twisted sense of justice or principle. The price we have already paid is already far too high. The price you have paid is far too great.

Until every American has quality affordable health care that is a right and not a privilege.

We deserve health care that is so much better than the http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/27/opinion/27kristof.html?_r=1">Health Care Fit for Animals system that we have now.

I hope Senator Kennedy is watching. Maybe he can kick some of those blue dogs to wake up.
