Sibel Edmonds Speaks, But No One Is Listening
Posted on August 27th, 2009 by Philip Giraldi

http://www.amconmag.com/blog/2009/08/27/sibel-edmonds-speaks-but-no-one-is-listening/

Those who are interested in issues like widespread corruption of our elected officals by foreigners have no doubt followed the ex-FBI traslator turned whistle blower Sibel Edmonds saga for the past few years. Sibel has finally testified in court under oath about some of the things that she learned while working for the bureau. The testimony was in a court in Ohio about two weeks ago. A full transcription and a useful summary appear at http://www.bradblog.com/?p=7374. In short, she names a number of Congressmen including former Speaker Dennis Hastert who took money from Turkish lobbyists. She also identifies senior State Department and Pentagon officials who apparently did the same, including our friends Marc Grossman, Paul Wolfowitz, and Doug Feith. Interestingly, she claims that Grossman blew the cover of Valerie Plame’s company Brewster Jennings back in 2001, causing CIA to shut it down, so Robert Novak was not guilty of exposing the CIA cover mechanism. In another interview given a few weeks ago, Edmonds claims that CIA was working closely with al-Qaeda in the Balkans and continued to do so until 9/11.

As I have reported before, Edmonds is a credible witness who is ignored by the mainstream media and congress because her tales, if true, would be devastating to both political parties and to the Israel and Turkish lobbies. She is dismissed as a crackpot. She might in fact be blowing smoke, but now that she has testified under oath and in considerable detail making very specific accusations isn’t it time for someone in the administration to review the FBI files and stand up to say whether her accounts are true or not? Corruption in the US government is something that no one wants to talk about, particularly if powerful foreign interests are involved.

For those who use Twitter, you can find Sibel at @sibeledmonds

1. at last, some "mainstream" coverage...
not really. But we know why they have not mentioned the deposition.

Boy oh boy, did they ever fuck up. As well as all the owners of the asses they kissed, all through the Bush administration (and earlier)

2. I think where I feel the most betrayed is when someone like
Rachel Maddow or Keith Olbermann won't even "go there".

Stories do come out like C Street and Blackwater and these are exposes done by real investigative journalists, and yet Sibel has been trying to get her story out now of 7 years and still the media is silent. Jeremy Scahill..do you hear me???

there's an invisible hand covering up this issue. It makes me wonder why I'm still proud to be an American. I'm just kidding myself, I guess.

5. The last time I was really proud to be an American
was just before the escalation of the Vietnam War. I was 16.

19. I've said it many times
this government has not been ours since before I was born (1951) and when we're told the lie often enough about how great we are as a nation, like any lie repeated often enough, people believe it to be the truth.

I honestly believe that why Kennedy was killed...to protect that lie.

Prescott Bush is one of the keys.

Um how about the IG for the FBI. I believe there is a report from that office regarding Sibel's claims.

12. Hey Mods,
isn't this a link to a right wing site that should be barred?

Is there a double standard when doing this?

In good faith, I am not expressing sour grapes, I understand the error I made a week ago when I inadvertently and naively posted a link to a site to make a point and asked for rebuttal help, but, sheesh, one would think this could be the same scenario, eh?

I think I have seen links to Fox sources allowed as well.

Please advise as I am somewhat confused.

I await your response.

16. I've been posting on DU since 2004 and articles that have been prohibited
are mainly from inflammatory sites...ie wildly unreliable, antisemitic.

We even have from time to time posts of responses from the home of the Freepers. :)

Welcome to DU! :hi:

25. I was referring to America in general. Don't sweat this one, there are plenty
of sources out there to verify legitimate stories like this one. You'll learn which sites are tolerated and which are not in time (a good clue is if the site has lightening bolts or swastikas in the logo, find another one).

The two biggies are; don't call out (especially the Mods, they have a tough job and don't need more crap) and don't take it personally. Most internet posters forget that there are often real people on the other end of a post.

As long as you are acting in good faith it's really not a big deal. That is not to say that if you attack people's delusions they will not freak out (like criticizing Obama), but that is to be expected. Oh, and you'll go on a lot of people's ignore lists.

Peace.
