Insurance companies are not in the business of providing healthcare. They are in the business of collecting dollars from American citizens. Doctors, clinics and hospitals are in the business of providing healthcare. Even those entities become less so in the business of providing healthcare to the extent that they are "for profit." For the insurance companies, paying doctors, clinics and hospitals for providing healthcare to their customers is a "cost" that shows up as a negative on their balance sheets. The mandate of the insurance companies is to control or eliminate these costs so that they keep more of their customers' dollars as "profit ("profit" is to the Capitalist religion as "Jesus" is to the Christian religion)." People are very angry that "profit" is being crucified on the same cross they once nailed "Jesus" to. I love this country.
Too many "air quotes," I know. I really don't wanna die a pauper just cause I get old...
