McCain's case against public option - it would be the eventual end of private insurers in US

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090827/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_mccain

'McCain urged them he would fight for health care reform but reiterated his opposition to President Barack Obama's plan to create a government option to compete with private insurers, arguing that it would be the eventual end of private insurers in the U.S....'

And, there it is...Boldly stated truth -

They aren't concerned about the best system for the people. They only care about keeping insurance companies in the game of profiteering off human illness.

Can you imagine what might happen, if the middle man health insurance companies who provide NO ACTUAL HEALTHCARE were removed from the equation?

Why, more people could get actual health care with that money & there wouldn't be any money to be pillaged from human suffering and illness....

Horrors....

And, doctors could just order the best treatment with no 'death panels' of insurance overseers denying care for preexisting conditions or halting treatment that THEY determine unnecessary....

We can't have that, now can we?

The poor insurance companies and the investors, they would lose money so that people could heal from sickness and maybe, LIVE.

A big FUCK YOU to John McCain and every politician on either side of the aisle that blocks true health reform for corporate and investor profit.

There is a special place in the inner circles of hell for all of you.

6. If we would just join together....we be many and they be few...

We could stop this insanity....

If people only realized the power of perception (conviction in the ability to change) and the strength in numbers...

We could end this utter and total madness.

it would hurt the insurance industry. They need to be reminded who they're elected to represent.

7. Someone needs to ask him why that would be so tragic,
Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 06:23 PM by Warpy
It's untrue, of course, since plenty of countries around the world have both public and private insurance options.

The only difference is that in countries with the public option, the private option doesn't engage in fraud to fatten the profit. They will cheat themselves right out of business if they do.

That's really the reason for the public option. It's the only competition the insurance giants will ever really experience to the extent that they'll have to change the business practices that have caused the whole system to fail.

10. Yes, and the democrats won and look where we are...

It isn't just McCain...it is every politician who refuses to fight for real health care reform instead of being dictated by corporate dollars...

I just don't understand these people. I would rather cast ONE vote that made a difference then serve out a lifetime being a puppet for the corporate masters....

Every time a private insurer went into Chapter 7 liquidation we could have a huge party.

I used to work for one, and for every single one of those criminal enterprises to go out of business would be no loss. :grr:

Edited on Thu Aug-27-09 06:49 PM by mike_c
...or maybe it does, after all, but they just don't want to risk it. Which will it be, wingnuts? If a for-profit system cannot compete with a not-for-profit system because people will freely choose the not-for-profit alternative if given a chance, what does that say about for-profit medical insurance and free markets? Nothing good, that's for sure!

16. An admission that public is better
So the private insurance companies couldn't compete? What do you mean? Do you mean that the Public option would provide better care at less cost? That is exactly what you must mean.
