E-mail Mass. Leaders to Support Temporary Senate Appointment
Source: Boston Globe

I think it would be a good idea to drop an email to the Massachussets Speaker of the House and Senate President expressing support to amend the law to allow the Governor to appoint a temporary senator until the special election is held in January 2010.

Here are the email addresses and contact information:

SENATE PRESIDENT
THERESE MURRAY
State House
Room 330
Boston, MA 02133
Tel: (617) 722-1500
FAX: (617) 248-3840

State House E-Mail Address: Therese.Murray@state.ma.us

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
ROBERT A. DeLEO
State House
Room 356
State House
Boston, MA 02133
Telephone: 617-722-2500
Facsimile: 617-722-2008

State House E-Mail Address: Robert.DeLeo@state.ma.us

It was mentioned in a newspaper article that the house and senate have been both getting emails from across the country in support and against the law change.

We should be heard as well.

1. Thank you. IMO, this is critical. BUT, on TV, I have been hearing that they
plan to hold hearings. (That was from DeLeo.) Hearings? Are you kidding me?

Then, the Senate President said timing was going to be an issue because of Labor Day, the Thanksgiving break, and the Christmas-New Year break.

In other words, it sounded to me as though they intend to slow walk this until the 145 days are up anyway.

2. can we chill out on this until after the man's buried please

I know our state legislators would NOT appreciate being bombarded with political e-mails right now. We are all grieving still.

After Labor Day I will contact my state Rep Brad Hill, a republican, and encourage him to support legislation giving the governor ability to appoint interim senator.
