I just signed up for a local town hall on healthcare for next Monday. I sent a note to fellow dem/activist and discovered that the guy running it is not only a republican, but works in the insurance field. Several of our local dems have signed up - and I'm trying to get some info together so that we can be prepared for the discussion (he's a deather, btw).
One piece I'm missing is the name of the group (and background) that was invited to speak at the the HC hearings, that I believe is a fundy group. I don't think it's family research council, but I'm drawing a blank - and google doesn't love me today. Please help.
I'd also love some other links to comprehensive documentation and FYI/you should know stuff. To help narrow it down, here is what I have right now:- Debunk for HR3200 bullet points (the one that began at FR, which included page numbers, etc).
From Politifact- Link to Politifact Truth-O-Meter, for people to read the latest lies
- Debunk specifically for Pants on Fire Palin and her Death Sqaud
- "What's in the bill" link from politifact
Under a section I titled "Know your insurance lobbyists & companies/agencies controlled by Insurance Groups:Health Insurance Lobby’s Stealth Astroturf Campaign Revealed
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/08/27/ahip-lobbying-publicoption/What you need to know about UnitedHealth Group (AKA United Health Care)
PLEASE, PLEASE take a moment to read the link below, and watch the video if you can. It discusses all the companies UHC owns, a few of which are often referred to as ‘Independent’ research or evaluation firms (Such as Lewin Group). UHC also managed to buy up two firms that were once independently set up to determine, “Reasonable & Customary” rates for insurance companies. Talk about a massive conflict of interest.
