4. yep, and I like the way his eyes are directed
at her breasts, rather than her face!

Always so endearing.

11. Honestly, the shutter could have clicked just as he was blinking.
We're used to seeing in "video", so we tend to forget that all of our faces make odd and non-representative movements of very short duration all of the time.

I like your analysis better, though :)

15. A friend has a good line for that when men do that to her.
She says, "I haven't trained them to speak yet." ;-)

8. Joan was quite the stunner when she was young.
And VERY talented. I remember she had a concert (she played piano) and Teddy was there with the kids. This was after they divorced.

Joan: "Tough noogies you don't have much to flaunt, Pat, but then Tricky Dicky isn't much for making whoopie anyway, is he. Too busy "hanging out" with his bestest buddy Bebe Rebozo, if you know what I mean. Oh, and Spiro - you can take your eyes off my boobs any time now."

10. Did you ever happen to read
"Mrs. Agnew's Diary" in National Lampoon back in the mid-70s? Priceless! This scene would have fit right in.

..."Mrs. Agnew's Diary," a regular department that lampooned the Nixon administration. Written in the breathless style of a suburban housewife's diary, it chronicles her life with "Spiggy" and the Nixons, oblivious to the shady political games being played by those around her.

13. Not easy to find
and I think there may be copyright law that prevents the wholesale reprinting of them, but you can still find old issues of NatLamp around. There's also a CD of the entire NatLamp catalog available for purchase, if you're hardcore like me. :)

14. That outfit caused quite the sensation.Mini-skirted, and iirc, silver to boot. It was rather "young"
... for the occasion.

Pat Nixon, if you'll notice, is NOT wearing the upholstery, and looks pretty good for a lady her age. She also has bare arms!

I think the "look" she's giving Joan is along the lines of "What do we have here? Yes, that is a mini-dress at a formal occasion. Well, she'll have to live with it." And Joan did have to live with it.
