Gov. Mark Sanford waives confidentiality in ethics probe.
Conway -- The State Ethics Commission revealed Friday night that it has been investigating Gov. Mark Sanford's travel for 10 days.

The commission confirmed the probe within hours of Sanford waiving his confidentiality in the matter, saying he wanted to publicly clear the air into his alleged wrongdoings. The news comes one day before House Republicans are set to discuss whether to proceed with an impeachment.

The governor's comments came one day before the House Republican Caucus is expected to meet in Myrtle Beach to discuss its 2010 agenda as well as whether to impeach Sanford.

Snip...

From his teary-eyed press conference in late June when he admitted his affair with an Argentine woman, to his feisty demeanor Friday, the governor had come full circle. He broke from what prominent political blogger Will Folks coined "the apology tour" Friday and took on the tone of confidence from his days on the campaign trail. Meanwhile, he lashed out at the press for what he called "advocacy journalism with an agenda" in place of an objective portrayal of the facts.

A possible problem: All the members of the State Ethics Commission were appointed by Gov. Sanford. Having said that, many Republicans in the Legislature are very unhappy with Sanford, so it will be interesting to see the outcome of this investigation.
