1. ??????
That's a very good question! No matter what answer they give you, you can guarantee it'll be bullshit!

3. This is the question that every Democrat should be asking them in the healthcare debate

2. Rep. Wiener of NY already asked that question
in the form of a bill abolishing Medicare.

Not one GOP had the gall to vote for it.

Hypocrites.

4. I know he did, but this is the one message the Democrats should rally behind
You are either for Medicare, and healthcare for EVERYONE with a public option, or you are against Medicare, and healthcare for EVERYONE

5. Well, if I have my facts straight
not a single republican voted for medicaid when it was first proposed, though I doubt any one of them would try to take it away now.

6. That is the correct framing of the issue.
So let's put this question out there as persistently as a toothache until the last Repuke has exposed themselves.

7. Republicans never were for it and are against it now!
From Wikipedia:

Ronald Reagan: “f you don’t and I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.” <1961><54>
George H.W. Bush: Described Medicare in 1964 as “socialized medicine.” <1964><55>
Barry Goldwater: “Having given our pensioners their medical care in kind, why not food baskets, why not public housing accommodations, why not vacation resorts, why not a ration of cigarettes for those who smoke and of beer for those who drink.” <1964><56>
Bob Dole: In 1996, while running for the presidency, Dole stated that he was one of 12 House members who voted against creating Medicare in 1965. “I was there, fighting the fight, voting against Medicare ... because we knew it wouldn’t work in 1965.” <1992>[57
