who wears something like that to a funeral, and what kind of adult would let them? Put on a pair of pants for once in your life.

4. WTF are you talking about?
Pics and some sort of link would be appropriate so that you do not look like an ass who is here merely to shit on a day of mourning.

7. some kid way to the front of the line
with the family, right behind the wife, etc. Shorts, flip flops and a sport coat. Not sure who he was and I am really puzzled that everyone else was in a suit or at least pants and a jacket and this kid was in shorts and flip flops and a jacket. Maybe there are pictures somewhere. I saw it on the CNN feed.

10. Although some may not approve, remember this
the Kennedy clan is and was always CASUAL... a young child who wanted to wear that, was probably allowed to, because he's a kid..and maybe that's the way he always dressed with Uncle Teddy..

would a suit & tie be "better"? maybe.. but no one's paying all that much attention to what the kids wear...well maybe a few are, but the day is not about the kid..

13. that's it
although I was wrong about the flip flops. Still looks too casual for the occasion, but I guess they were okay with it.

15. It's up to the family regarding appropriate attire
I'd probably be the dark sheep of the family really fast if I showed up at a funeral wearing shorts but that my kins standards.

17. You should probably feel like an idiot now since that ISN'T THE FUNERAL.
It was the gathering of people bidding him farewell from the family compound - yesterday.

From correspondents in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts

August 28, 2009 06:18am

CROWDS have bid a silent, fond farewell to Edward Kennedy as his funeral procession slipped down the narrow roads of this seaside resort at the start of his final journey.

Dressed in holiday shorts and sandals or even just barefoot, hundreds today lined the leafy, winding roads of Hyannis Port in balmy summer weather to pay their last respects to the Democratic giant.
