No Support for Gov. Sanford
MYRTLE BEACH — Not a single member of the House Republican Caucus spoke in Gov. Mark Sanford’s favor Saturday during an impeachment discussion.

More than 55 members of the caucus gathered in this oceanfront city for an annual organizational session that ended with 45 minutes of call after call for the embattled governor to resign or be impeached.

House Speaker Bobby Harrell, a Charleston Republican, resisted calls from members to circulate a caucus letter to urge Sanford to step down or begin immediate impeachment action. Harrell said he wants the caucus to wait until a State Ethics Commission investigation is complete to ensure that impeachment proceedings would be based on fact.

Harrell and Senate leader Glenn McConnell, also a Charleston Republican, could agree to call the Legislature back in advance of the scheduled January return. Two-thirds of lawmakers in each chamber would have to agree to come back to take up an impeachment.

2. How many times are they going to try to get him to resign?
He has been given plenty of opportunities to step down and avoid the added embarassment of impeachment proceedings. However, his ego won't allow for that. Impeach him now!

4. He will NEVER resign.
He has an oppositional personality trait, part of his NPD persona (I'm not a doctor and I'm not making a diagnosis, but if I were....).

It will take a team of wild horses to drag him out of the governor's mansion.

His utter disdain for his constituents is absolutely breathtaking!

9. Isn't the SC Lt. Gov a bit of a moran himself?
I think I read here a couple of months ago that the Lt. Gov. is a bigger walking disaster than w.

11. He has a bit of a wild streak.
Got caught doing about 100mph, told the police they couldn't arrest him 'cause he was the Lt.Gov.;however, I think he calmed down considerably after his little "come to jeebus meeting" when he crashed his private plane and lived to tell about it a few years ago. He said he'd learned his lesson and was going to turn his life around. I haven't heard anything negative since then. Don't know if he's really changed or is just "flying under the radar" (pun intended).

I was talking about Andre Bauer, the Lt Gov.
