For Those Of You Who Have Never Seen This... (RFK Funeral Train Video)
I do not post this to compare, contrast, or for any other creepy reason.

I post this because the other day on the Young Turks (TYT) somebody had mentioned it in regards to Teddy, and it seemed like the hosts were not familiar with the impact of that ride.

So... if you haven't seen this, break out the hankies.

Just goes to show further evidence of the impact this family had on America.

6. Yeah It Was Amazing... And Had It's Own Tragedy...
The Pennsylvania Railroad GG1: Robert F. Kennedy's Funeral Train

On June 8, 1968, the 21 car funeral train of Robert F. Kennedy left New York City for Washington, DC. The train was led by GG1 number 4901 with number 4903 trailing, and ended with Penn Central open-platform business car number 120 carrying the body of the late Senator.

A three car pilot train pulled by GG1 number 4932 ran ahead of the funeral train and GG1s numbers 4900 and 4910 followed light as back-up motive power.

At Elizabeth, NJ, the crowd moved onto the tracks to get a view of the special train, just as "The Admiral", heading to New York City from Chicago, was rounding a curve. "The Admiral's" GG1 sounded its horn, but some of the people in the crowd did not clear the track in time and sadly two were killed and four seriously injured.

After the tragic accident the Penn Central ordered all train movement stopped until the special train passed. The funeral train arrived in Washington's Union Station four hours behind schedule and had caused disruption to the entire railroad.

Can you imagine what the family felt when they found out why the train had stopped?

7. He died a little less than 30 years before my birth.
I grew up with a wonderful mother who taught me the importance of history and current events. It saddens me to meet many peers who know not just the impact, but the family itself.

8. I was a young woman then of 22 & I was watching that night on my birthday - June 4th 1968

I had also seen the killing of Oswald on the TV 5 years earlier after JFK was shot, and heard of MLK Jr. assassination 3 months prior to Robert's death. It was a very scary time and LBJ had just started to expand the war in Vietnam. The JFK Funeral will always be one of the saddest things I ever experienced. With John John and Caroline and their beautiful Mother watching as the horse drawn hearse was pulled to Arlington where JFK was to be buried.

Here is YouTube of JFK's funeral persession:

I hope and pray to God that our country NEVER has this kind of tragedy happen again! I pray daily for our President and cannot understand how the hate filled diatribe of the Right Wing Fanatics is allowed to be spewed as "free" speech! Anyone that lived through this time has to know what this meant to our country!

Thank you for posting this. We must never forget what sacrifices these men gave to our country - Martin, Robert, John and Teddy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I guess I was still in shock at what had happened because I don't remember much about the service or any of that. THANKS for posting that.

They may have done more for this nation than any other family in history

14. November 1963.
I remember exactly where I was. We watched the funeral itself on a small round TV screen, color so poor yet as to be non-existent. It was raining all day where we lived.
