Carrie Prejean Sues Pageant For Religious Discrimination
Carrie Prejean is finally firing back at the people behind Miss California USA with a lawsuit -- claiming Shanna Moakler and other pageant officials forced her out because of her religious beliefs.

5. I don't think so
I think she violated her contract by not attending Miss California USA events and going to RW events.

17. Nope
She failed to meet her obligations. It had absolutely nothing to do with religion.

18. Yes.
They claim she didn't go to events she was asked to attend.

She claims she went to almost every specific event they asked her to.

If she's telling the truth, she'll probably win.

30. "Almost"?
She has to go to them all.

She is also limited in what types of public appearances she can engage in as a rep of the pageant. Going on RWs shows as a political figure violates the rules of the pageant and therefore broke her contract with it. They have a certain image they like to maintain and her becoming a controversial figure isn't one of them.

What is her grounds for saying it is based on religion? She has to make the case and can't just say "because I think so". Donald Trump came out in strong support of her in regards to the whole initial controversy and it is completely unclear that any of that had anything to do with her religion. Her answer just offended some people. She wasn't fired until she started showing up on RW radio shows and making a spectacle of herself instead of attending sanctioned activities.

Claiming her firing is based on religion is a s-s-s-t-t-t-r-r-r-e-e-e-t-t-t-c-c-c-h-h-h that self-pitying and attention seeking nut jobs always resort to. This time she is gold digging because she didn't get the fame she expected out of it.

Plus, Donald Trump has deep pockets. This is going nowhere.

35. It isn't against the rules for her to appear as a guest on right-wing shows,
...nor does her contract require her to attend every event the organization asks her to.

40. From what I've seen of her, number two might be a problem.
I can't imagine how she won a beauty contest, she's barely above average, looks-wise, even if one happens to be into spray tans and bad fake tits. The state is full of young women who look just like her, manning the cash register at the mall.

photos had nothing to do with it, eh, Carrie?

How about all those scheduled events you failed to show up for? You failed to fulfill your obligations, not the pageant.

Shanna quit because they wouldn't let her go at the beginning. So why would she sue Shanna?? Shanna had nothing to do with her getting fired.

14. I thought RWers were
opposed to frivolous lawsuits.

How exactly did they 'force her out'? She violated her contract. That's pretty much a no brainer. And how has any of this harmed her? She's the darling of the RWers which means she'll make millions on a book she won't write herself that will make the best seller list because it will be bought in bulk by RW groups. No one will read it though.

20. They say she violated her contract and she says she didn't.
A judge or jury will have to sort that out (unless this is settled out-of-court.)

16. If her central tenets of her 'religion'
hold that breach of contract is a sacrament - that having partially-nude photographs taken of yourself and then lying to pageant directors about it requires no special dispensation - then she's well on the road to beatification.

Thing is, there's a pesky document called the Constitution of the United States; its first amendment guarantees that its citizens will not be held hostage to wackadoodle religiosity, whether it emanates from the guy in the funny hat who claims to be Jesus Christ's personal representative on earth, a self-described 'messiah' who claims to fulfill the work Jesus Christ was too wimpy to finish Himself, or a lone nutjob who 'suicides' himself along with his entire congregation (save those with the presence of mind to escape beforehand).

We the people - in the form of the Courts and the Miss USA Pageant - claim ourselves free from the religious dictates of this harpy.

It's clear that speaking out is what brought all the attention on her (from non Pageant fans). The question is, did she breach her contract in any way (it sounds like yes from what I've heard, but I haven't followed the minutiae of this story). If she can show that she didn't breach her contract then the case will get interesting fast. If they show she did breach it then case closed.

31. Still, what is the basis to say she was fired based on religion?
It's a pretty tough sell.

They can fire her based on just the subjective belief that she wasn't representing the pageant as a good role model. Going on right wing hate shows and getting heavily political would be enough to prove that. I'm sure Trump's attorney's are smart enough to record a few choice comments from these nut jobs and play them in court as a case in point. As a pageant queen she is suppose to stay a-political and represent "all-American" values. Hate is not "all-American" even when you try to justify it with religion.

...is second-guessing his initial decision to support this twit. Especially now that she's targetting his money with her lawsuit.

I'm about sick to f'in death of Christians whining about how 'persecuted' they are, when its' still illegal to purchase liquor on Sunday in half the states in the Union because of religious-based law. Triple that annoyance for the fake Christians like 'Miss Prejean'. :puke:

doubt she will win and the Donald will probably have much better representation. She probably should have showed up to her obligated events. Sounds like this is DOA in court. I just wish some jury doesn't have to waste their time over these people.

That's all you need to know right there.

I actually feel kind of sorry for Carrie. She's simply too dumb to know she's just a tool to advance religious right's anti-gay agenda. When LiMandri's done with her, he'll toss her aside like a used kleenex.
