We save horses, don't we? you bet we do!

A few fires ago, people with trailers were picking up strangers' horses, shoving them into trailers & spray-painting where they picked them up..on their sides, so they would be easy to claim..

I've lost it now, but there was a picture of a teenager riding a horse with no saddle, as he held the reins of two other horses he was leading away..smoke everywhere and the fire coming over the hill behind them.. the caption said they were not even his horses.

My friend in Norco had goats, and every time there was a brush fire, people from all over would drop their goats off..sometimes she'd have "goat-guests" for weeks, as the people rebuilt their sheds..

4. You're very welcome. But I always feel sad for all the wild critters
who have nowhere to go..

A friend in Anaheim Hills had two deer camped out in her yard when they returned after the fires there were out..

2. Last summer we took in up to 9 horses whose owners had to evacuate
due to the fires near Yosemite.

This year, so far, no evacuations nearby (knock on wood).

Good for the people who are doing this.

3. many of our shelters accept large animals, as well as pets
People often do not evacuate, because they cannot bear to leave their animals, and have nowhere to take them, or help to get them out, so they stay:(
