6. My cousins are firefighters in MA.
They visited during fire season once and were just blown away. They visited a few stations before going back just to pay their respect.

9. Firefighters from all over the state fight these Southern California fires
my friend from Redwood City has been doing this year after year and is in SoCal right now.

10. yep, it's not for the faint-hearted or the out-of-shape....
It's a really tough job. Kudos to all who do it! I've known a number of folks over the last dozen years who do it, mostly seasonal. It pays pretty well, as it should.

I'm a 52 Club member; in fact it's time for me to renew. That amounts to a dollar a week to assist the families of fallen or injured firefighters who give so much to all of us.

We live near the San Bernardino Mountains and have had many wildfires since I have lived here and it's a small price to pay to help them in their time of need.

13. agreed. totally... and it's 104 degrees in the shade...
I don't know how they do it with all their gear on. I really don't. How come they don't collapse with heat exhaustion? they have some stamina.
