Waxman:'Scariest man in Congress'
This article appeared in todays AJC

http://www.ajc.com/search/content/natwaxman0128a.html

snip...Washington —- Bald, mustachioed, 5 feet 5 inches in height, the Hollywood congressman who'd rather watch the Academy Awards at home than mingle with the stars, Henry Waxman is hardly a fearsome or famous figure to most of America.

But Time magazine recently dubbed the California Democrat "The Scariest Guy in Town." With his political party having taken control of Congress, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has subpoena power to probe the Bush administration or just about anything else that strikes his investigative fancy.

On Tuesday, the panel plans a hearing on political interference in the work of government climate-change scientists. The following week, it has asked former Iraq administrator L. Paul Bremer and others to appear at a hearing on waste, fraud and abuse in Iraq reconstruction.

"He's got a very long list," said Norman Ornstein, a congressional analyst with the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative-leaning think tank. "I'm sure he's going back to the contracting mess , Halliburton and others. And not just contractors."

1. Only problem being, there isn't enough time to conduct investigations into ALL the malfeasence...
of this Administration - it would take a lifetime.

8. maybe what needs to be done first is get them out of causing us harm
then let a plethora of new aspiring lawyers and such work on their cases and get some good experiences.

2. Scary to whom? I'm afraid it tells us something about Time magazine -
though hardly something we didn't already know, its political leaning not being exactly a closely-guarded secret. I should have thought - probably together with most Americans - that the scary people are those to be investigated.

4. The TIME Article
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1562974,00.html

"Iraq will get new attention with Waxman in power. This week he plans to send a letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld demanding information on Halliburton's $16 billion contract to provide services to troops there. Waxman's staff has been poring over the fine print of that deal for more than two years, and is convinced that much of the money is slipping between layer upon layer of subcontractors."

With all those Halliburton whistleblowers feeding his committee the inside info, Waxman has the goods:

Notice who he is connected with-TeAmerican Enterprise Institute. The good people who brought us PNAC.
I imagine they are soiling themselves thinking about what he will unleash on their sorry asses.
IIRC,didn't I see a post here a couple of weeks ago about them changing their name? Sounds to me like they are trying to distance themselves from their version of Mien Kampf.

5. "I have a little list."
I also like another line from that G&S classic: "They never will be missed."

a great honor, Mazel Tov, Mr. Waxman!
