We really are our own worst enemies. Who is this idiot Parker Griffith, why is he giving ammo to the nrcc, and what's he doing in my party?

NRCC Going After Dems on Whether They Support Pelosi as Speaker
By David Weigel 9/1/09 1:23 PM

Rep. Parker Griffith’s (D-Ala.) comment that he wouldn’t support Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in another vote for Speaker of the House has been manna for the National Republican Congressional Committee, which is sending around this sample pledge to targeted Democrats. This one’s for Griffith’s colleague, Rep. Bobby Bright (D-Ala.)

The Pelosi Pledge

Whereas Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to strong-arm her divisive and radical policies through Congress and onto the American people, leading Americans and fellow Democrats to lose faith in her ability to lead.

Whereas during Speaker Pelosi’s tenure, she has wasted over a trillion dollars, pushed through a National Energy Tax, and facilitated the largest deficit in American history.

Whereas Speaker Pelosi now has her eyes set on a radical, irresponsible healthcare plan that may be the final straw for Democrats and Republicans alike.

Whereas last week, fellow Democrat Congressman Parker Griffith told a group of constituents that he could no longer support Pelosi in her position as Speaker of the House. According to Griffith “I would not vote for her. Someone that divisive and that polarizing cannot bring us together.” (Huntsville Times, 8/25/09)

Whereas Americans are clamoring for more jobs, fewer taxes, and less government spending, but Nancy Pelosi has proven herself incapable of providing the leadership necessary to solve the country’s problems.

Resolved, if House leadership elections were held today, I, Representative Bobby Bright pledge that I would not vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House.

Signed,

X________________________

Bobby Bright, Member of Congress

1. The NRCC should be careful what they ask for
Many Dems already consider Pelosi to be too conciliatory towards Republicans.

If she loses she likely wont be replaced by someone with her fair mindedness.

2. No shit.
Give 'em someone with a REAL agenda to deal with and they'd all be raiding David Vitter's diaper stash on a regular basis.

Even when they have it good they don't have the sense to keep their lips from flapping.

3. Frankly, the fight for healthcare is a fight for the viability of the Democratic party
If Democrats in Congress cannot stand united on the most important issue today, then what good is belonging to the Democratic party?
