At least according to an email I got--wish she'd let people know sooner.

Glenn Beck is getting the Key to Mount Vernon From Bud Norris even the city council seems to think it strange.… Here are some articles from the past and video from today’s demonstrations.. yes, and I just bought the book also. I do believe we need to protest Glenn Beck with signs when coming to the Mctyere hall with “Health care for all signs Not Glenn Beck Care”… Erna

1. Probably what it took to buy him off from not mentioning Oligarchy again.
Edited on Wed Sep-02-09 04:01 AM by RandomThoughts
Or maybe it is a reward for mentioning Oligarchy, although he could not see the meaning of the word.

Him mentioning Oligarchy was actually a good thing. Although he correlates it within his political bias based on what is good for him. Getting the word Oligarchy into the heads of the Beck'ers is really good.

He can't redefine it, and anyone that looks it up will learn alot really fast, since Oligarchy is the private sector, and Beck'ers learning that the self claimed ruling elite are private sector people is a really good thing.

My suggestion to Beck would be a thought exercise. Think about politics, economics, without it being about you or anyone you know. Can you think about it without it being about you? If not what are you really thinking about?

4. Its meant to create some symbolic connection in weaker minds.
Edited on Wed Sep-02-09 04:09 AM by RandomThoughts
There are some people that follow symbolism. And by a Mayor that is in a small town called Mount Vernon giving him one of his keys, he is trying to make a George Washington like statement.

You can see it symbolically, and there are groups that like to do that, it actually fits Glenn becks uncorrelated connection thinking. So it is part of a bigger gaming of those that follow symbolism.

Somehow in his mind, getting a key from a Mayor of a town named after the plantation of George Washington, to him, or to people that watch his show, is suppose to create some connection to the revolutionary founding fathers.

Its the same connection of unrelated events he does all the time, and is a post event, so it is a manufactured event to try and create symbolic value in people that think that way.

3. Mt Vernon is a tiny little spot on the highway...
If you blink while driving you might miss it. And Bud Norris isnt the sharpest tool in the shed. I have a bag of rocks that are smarter than he is.

5. Not true at all...
Mount Vernon is actually a medium-sized town that becomes one of the hotspots of tourism in the Northwest in April, when the Skagit tulip fields are in bloom. It also has a pretty large Latino population...which makes honoring Beck particularly bizarre.

13. They couldn't find any Nobel Prize winners worthy enough?
Incredible that they would honor a non-productive parasitic unentertaining entertainer who contributes nothing to society and who won't be remembered five days after his death. We really are in the American Idol phase of our culture.
