Hey, lookie here, a nice, shiny new RW talking point on government health care!
This one is brand new, all improved! Today on MJ, Barnicle sneered "If the way the government is handling the H1N1 virus, you can imagine what government run health care will be like!" (I am paraphrasing but that was his gist).

This followed a news story about how we won't have the H1N1 immunization shots available until October...

1. I think they should first make up their mind...
About whether or not we should be worrying about this virus at all in the first place.

I guess I get it... if the vaccines are ready, there's nothing to worry about. If the vaccines are not ready, damn them all for putting us at risk!

Even though the government doesn't run the pharmaceutical company...

3. Oh, stop it! Don't try to talk sense! It's all the gummint's fault ya know!
I sometimes feel like I'm on the inside of a bell when I hear these people talk and the bell just reverberates over and over again...boing, boing...

2. I wonder why private insurers aren't filling in the gap?
Oops, did I speculate too freely again?

Naturally, any temporary, perceived shortage in the availability of H1N1 vaccine couldn't possibly be related to the slower-than-expected growing of vaccine, which would have been a problem in any reality-based universe. So that lets Barnicle off the hook, as he occupies a time and space untethered to reality, and in which Republican idiocy makes perfect sense.

5. I just got a new list of drugs my insurance won't cover...
How many people will not be able to afford those drugs... and simply stop taking them... but I'm sure they won't end up in any statistic...

4. Yeah, because Obama is personally responsible for the BIOLOGICAL FACT
that H1N1 grows very slowly in culture.

Dumbasses.

7. or the fact that we have outsourced the manufacture of vaccines
I think we only manufacture 20%.
Sad truth gonna hit when the countries that manufacture them aren't going to give them to us (even with our contracts) until their citizens get them.
The WHO said that the only thing they can do is TRY to get them for our healthcare workers.
It's going to be a long, ugly winter.:(

8. We shoulda elected Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris doesn't get vaccinated against H1N1; H1N1 gets vaccinated against Chuck Norris. Not that it would help!

9. They are going to hammer Obama either way on the H1N1
If it is a bad outbreak they will say he didn't do enough. I everything works out well and the virus is contained, they will say he wasted government money on nothing.

10. I heard the RW talking point was
the lack of vaccine was deliberate so people would be demanding healthcare for all.

13. It went off in my house right after Barnicle made that statement.
I only watch to hear the talking points and so I can report back to DU (a public service, you see, heh). It sure was a fast watch today!

12. Whereas big pharma has stepped up to the free-enterprise plate and...
waited around for the gummint-run NIH to do all the research on the public dime, and for the gummit to place an order to produce the vaccine?

16. He's a disgrace. That, so soon after Teddy's burial. What a disgrace!
He ought to be ashamed of himself!

I turned off MJ right after Barnicle's lunacy. No more. I had to take a shower.
