Are the Pubs winning any Special Elections since Obama was elected?
The corporate mediawhores keep talking about some mystical "resurgence" for the Pubs, particularly in regards to the "anger" stoked by the HCR debate but all I hear about is them continuing to lose special election after election EVEN IN THE SOUTH. So, how the hell do Charlie Cook and other "pundits" figure that the Pubs are going to clean up in next year's midterms, particularly if HCR gets passed?
I'm just not seeing it........

4. we're having one soon
California's 10th district - Ellen Tauscher left. The Repub was on t.v. this morning saying it was the opportune time for him since the economy is in the tank, the deficit is skyrocketing, etc. :eyes: John Garamendi is the Democrat running against him.

6. No, they haven't.
There has been three....I think, and all went to Dems!

California's 32nd congressional district special election, occurred on July 14, 2009, to fill the vacancy in California's 32nd congressional district. The election was won by Democrat Judy Chu, who became the first Chinese American woman elected to serve in Congress.

A special election was held in Illinois's 5th congressional district in 2009 to fill the seat vacated by Rahm Emanuel. On April 7, Democratic nominee Michael Quigley defeated Republican nominee Rosanna Pulido and Green nominee Matt Reichel. Quigley was sworn in on April 21 and will serve out the current congressional term.

The 2009 special election for the 20th congressional district of New York was held on 30 March 2009 between Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican Jim Tedisco. On 23 April, after recounts of absentee ballots took place, Tedisco conceded the election.
