4. The Nation is the best
I also like Mother Jones. For skeptics and unbelievers, Free Inquiry is good. And if you're into punk rock with radical politics, I like Profane Existence.

5. Hustler... really...
If you don't mind the silly smut and beautiful bodies, it has the finger on the pulse of politics and some amazingly spot on articles.

10. The Nation
Although I seem to recall someone saying it was secretly controlled by right-wingers when I tried to cite an article from there about how Rachel Maddow actually credits Pat Buchanan for getting her the job on MSNBC.

14. That person may have gotten the Nation confused with The New Republic.
"The New Republic (TNR) is an American magazine of politics and the arts. It is published semimonthly and has a circulation of approximately 60,000. The editor-in-chief is Martin Peretz and the current editor is Franklin Foer. The magazine generally supports liberal social and social democratic economic policies, while otherwise taking a hawkish viewpoint on foreign policy." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Republic

Basically a smarter, more interesting version of Time.
