Let's edit Curt Schilling's Wikipedia entry to reflect the fact that he is an extreme RWer who
uses his blog to espouse those political views. which, of course, he has every right to do, but the fact of which is currently whitewashed.

As it is, under the "Internet" heading (scroll way down), it says "Schilling started a blog called 38pitches.com in which he answers fan questions, documents his starts and refutes press coverage about him or the team that he believes is inaccurate."

If you aren't familiar with his craptastic RW talking points posts, here are a few examples:

http://38pitches.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/curt-schilling/general/2008/09/10/interesting-email/

http://38pitches.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/curt-schilling/general/2009/02/09/wasnt-the-rest-of-the-world-supposed-to-start-loving-us/

http://38pitches.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/curt-schilling/general/2008/09/12/if-you-have-a-minute/

http://38pitches.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/curt-schilling/general/2009/08/06/move-along-here-nothing-to-see/

http://38pitches.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/curt-schilling/general/2008/12/09/were-winning/

If anyone can think of the wording that will be truthful, yet still acceptable to Wikipedia, please edit the page. They thought my wording was too biased against the Schill, and, granted, I think I did edit it to say something like "he also used his blog to spew his right wing venom." I guess I failed the finesse test.

I know this motherfucker personally (his dumbass wife, Shonda, is my cousin), and he is as much of a male Sarah Palin as many of you suspect, if not worse. Let's set the record straight on this egomaniacal, fundie blowhard with designs on Senator Kennedy's office.

2. He is another Republican celebrity interested in public office
He is one of the heroes of the Red Sox World Series victory in 2004, so is popular in Massachusetts because of it.

15. Popular enough to fill Teddy Kennedy's shoes? He's also considered one of the ten most hated sports...
figures:

4. Curt Schilling

“Between the white lines, it’s all real,” says one reporter who has covered Schilling. “But outside the white lines, there’s a huge gap between the man and the image he projects.” Take, for instance, Schilling’s self-glorifying display during Congress’s steroid hearings last March or his absurdly patriotic open letter to America on ESPN.com after 9/11, for which his teammates mocked him on a late-night bus ride with a chorus of “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy.” “They know what he’s about,” says the sportswriter. “I’d say a large percentage of them like him—every fifth day. He wears on people.”

On days he doesn’t pitch, Schilling is notorious for striking TV-ready poses on the dugout stairs. (His manager in Philadelphia, Jim Fregosi, dubbed him Red Light Curt.) “He’s somebody who’s always positioning himself in terms of what’s best for Curt Schilling,” says ESPN’s Pedro Gomez, who described Schilling as “the consummate table for one.” (Speaking of which, Schilling also has a reputation for sneaking into the clubhouse late in games to get a head start on the buffet.)

So avid is Schilling’s longing for the spotlight that some of his peers raise doubts about his now legendary turn in the 2004 postseason, when he pitched on an ankle tendon that had been sutured in place. During Game 6, cameras cut repeatedly to the bright red stain on Schilling’s sock. It was blood, right? “The Diamondbacks people think he definitely doctored that sock,” says the sportswriter. The ex-teammate laughs: “All around baseball, people questioned that. It was funny how the stain didn’t spread.”

16. However, he's a Republican
so, he always gets the benefit of the doubt in the media.

9. Oh, sorry, I had meant to put in the Wikipedia link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curt_Schilling

And here's what he has to say today on his blog:

HERE'S JUST ONE MORE REASON WHY

As I have stated, while it’s an incredible honor to have people think I should, and would, be worthy, the hurdles to running for the vacated Senate seat are immense. Then I read something like this, and I pause.

Please read this article(link:http://primebuzz.kcstar.com/?q=node/19785 not working for me.)

When did health and the well-being of United States citizens become a “Strategic Decision”? How the hell did we let people into office who look at us in that way? Aren’t they SUPPOSED to work for us?

This line really just hammers home what the people we have elected think of us…

“When you have (lawmakers) go back (home) and listen and see what the reactions are and also have an election coming up…I think they get a little cold feet.”

What? Really? You mean when lawmakers face their constituents — you, me, us, the people — and we voice a dissenting opinion or outrage at legislation we do not want they get cold feet? So the answer is you should “ram it home” BEFORE you face the people, that way there’s nothing that can be done about it? Nice.

I mean that really does work right? If you live in the Ukraine or somewhere in the Middle East….

3. But the readers are calling him out. Seems like he's getting what he asked for...

Reading the comments on that page really helped me reestimate the intelligence of the average sports fan. One prejudice less to live with. that was worth it. thanks for posting.

6. As more time passes since he helped the Red Sox "break the curse, there are less sycophants posting
comments on his blog. He's a major league jerk, and I'm glad more people are seeing it and responding to his arrogant RW blathering.

10. It will not happen here.
Even if his politics were good, MA hates Curt Schilling for how fucking useless he became after his so-called "heroics" in the 2004 Series. He became a shitty pitcher and a shill for Bush-Cheney. We don't take kindly to his type 'round these parts.

11. I don't know--is Jim Bunning one of the biggest egomaniacs on the planet? If so, then yes.
I know he is a Rep or Sen (please let it not be a senator.)

8. I'd like to edit it so it reflects....
...how he showed up his teammate in the 1993 World Series by hiding under a towel, yet couldn't get out of the fourth inning in a crucial game while staked to a big lead.

His exploits have always been overrated and full of histrionics. This is no different. Another stunt from an asshole loudmouth.

14. Yeah, what a class act. Just another of the many reasons he is pretty well
despised by many of the guys he's played with. Interestingly, I can't find the correct search terms to turn up a single picture of the coward under the towel, so I give you these:
