I will work against any healthcare "reform" without the public option

I will write and call my reps urging them to vote against any legislation that doesn't include a public option. It's simply unacceptable. I know I'm not alone. Does President Obama not grasp how much of his base he'll lose if he discards a public option?

3. There are 65 House members who have pledged to vote NO

On any bill without a strong public option. If the conference committee returns such a bill, it will be DOA in the House.

12. I agree with you on this cali. I also believe Pres Obama wants to do the right thing.

However, I think that the forces of evil are powerful. There is no knowing what threats they are making.

But I see this as possibly the most important political battle of our lives. If we loose, it will break the back of many Democrats and embolden CorpAmerica. Having said that, it might all be for naught if the SCOTUS rules in favor of CorpAmerica in the up coming case:

The mandate is really a gift to the insurance companies.

Please remember that many people are just barely
making it, and they don't have access to good health care
because they don't have a car,
or they live in a Medically Underserved Area.
Others have good health, but other major needs.

So a full insurance mandate just takes from them,
and isn't really insurance at all.
We need to cope with this problem, to prevent
the public option from becoming another tax
on the working class.

IMO, we need to raise our voices in a resounding chorus ~~ and let them know what we want. I worked for Obama for two main reasons ~~ stop the war and reform health care. So far, not a great record on this.

19. Me too. I've already been doing that, in fact.

A "robust" public option is a deal breaker for me (and by robust I mean a plan that is projected to cover 50+ million Americans within five years). Anything less than that will not be able to drive down prices and "keep the insurance companies honest." Instead, it will amount to nothing more than a massive give-away to the health insurance cabal.
