Big money on the line here. I don't think he will ever say it again.

Limbaugh on Obama: "Halfrican American"

On the January 24 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh referred to Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and actress Halle Berry as "Halfrican American{s}," stating that "Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican American actress Halle Berry." Limbaugh then said: " 'As a Halfrican American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry's support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans,' Obama said." Limbaugh then conceded that Obama "didn't say it."

Obama "is the son of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya." As Media Matters for America has noted, conservative talk radio host Brian Sussman has also characterized Obama as a "Halfrican." Sussman later issued an apology on his website, describing his comments about Obama as "insensitive."

From the January 24 broadcast of Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: Hey, Barack Obama has picked up another endorsement: Halfrican American actress Halle Berry. "As a Halfrican American, I am honored to have Ms. Berry's support, as well as the support of other Halfrican Americans," Obama said.

1. I think he will say it (or something like it) again...

Rush has to let the venom out or he might explode.

2. Supposedly, he was 'warning his listeners' yesterday that
"they are coming after him now". Now??? :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: So, yes I think he's going to be watching himself more, but he won't have any self control. He's going to push it and try to turn it into a media blitzkreig.

His listeners haven't quite figured out that it's not about "Conservativism" at all; it's 100% about Rush Limbaugh.

3. Limbaugh is doomed.
We may not be able to get him fired for his past remarks but his big fat mouth will say something someday and he'll hang himself. It's inevitable.

4. Sure, why not? His advertisers don't care what they look like supporting a racist.
But, Rush makes $35 Million a year saying that sort of thing, so I don't think he'll change his ways.

Rush supports the Bush administration and the Iraq War.

He has the largest radio audience in the United States with over 600 radio stations carrying his program.

And those stations that carry Rush support Bush, for the most part.

Besides, Obama is a politician - he's a public figure.
And so is Halle Berry.
Hell, she's an actress - she's from Hollyweird.

5. Absolutely, he'll say it again and again
These sleazeballs think that just because they have acquired that which Republicans worship most (money),
that they are excused from following any rules, be they of decent society or of the law.

My bet is that Limbaugh's mindset is one of "Imus was too much of a wimp to defend himself, and didn't have
good enough legal help."

Like Hitler in his bunker contemplating the oncoming Russian onslaught, he probably would consider the threat
of being shut down a temporary inconvenience. Only a direct hit would slow him down. We will probably sooner
or later be in a position to deliver the legal equivalent of a direct hit, but I'd much prefer he self-destruct
first (or, indeed, explode). I'd rather see him as a right-wing embarrassment than a right-wing martyr. When
a good 80% of his former audience starts claiming they never used to listen to him, THEN things will be as
they should be.

6. As the mouthpiece for conservative hate, Limbaugh
has to keep spewing his endless smorgasbord of lies, half truths and vitriol.
Without the viciousness that he supplies, he would be of no value to the wingies.
Yesterday, I had the unusual occasion, on the way to the dentist to get my mouth carved on, to prepare myself for the experience by turning on KMOX, St. Louis and listen to Limbaugh prepare himself for the coming storm. He is quite right to be aware that the focus may well turn to him.

I suspect he will compensate by becoming even more hateful toward the "conservatives'" favorite punching bags. He can't quit, but we can ultimately shut him down.
