"Trigger" happy: a very short (and to the point, I hope) rant

What's all this crap I now hear about postponing the public option in favor of some signal
that will "trigger" a public option if insurance companies that don't "behave?"

Like they're "behaving" now?

I have news for Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress:

THE TRIGGER HAS BEEN PULLED! It was called the American election of 2008.

Please act accordingly.

1. I always expected some portions of the PO to be "triggered"

as such I am not disappointed.

Endgame will be some aspects of the PO will go into effect immediately. But most will wait on a 5 year trigger. Many here will be likely be unhappy. But they seem to enjoy that, so...

4. The American voters --

gave the Democratic Party the House, the Senate, and the White House to pass the kind of reform that Barack Obama ran on -- real reform that included a strong public option.

The Aemrican people overwhelming agree that reform must nclude a public option.

It looks like the Senatorial congresscritters are the ones not listening to the People.

They are the problem.

...to claim they reformed health care without doing anything that might hurt the bottom line of their campaign contributers in the insurance industry and big pharma.

A real public option tied to triggers that can never be met seems the newest cowards way out of the demands by the party base for true reform.

Fuck this "trigger" bullshit. Those ins co bastards have been shooting live bullets at and killing our ability to receive necessary medical treatment for years. Cheated us and denied coverage. Taken our money, fucked us over and let us die.

Once some ill-defined "trigger" is needed, then Congress can always find a reason why it is never "needed."

I say the election of 2008 is all the trigger they ever needed. What the hell did they think the voters
were saying when they voted in overwhelming majorities in the executive and both houses of Congress? If
you ask me, it was NOT "more status quo, please." The vote said, "JUMP!" Instead of responding, "how high?"
as the vote tally should have mandated, Congress is saying, "jump who?" and seems to have trouble figuring
out why no one is laughing.
