Mark Sanford's supporters accused of being behind the rumors that Andre Bauer is gay
In a letter to South Carolina legislators, a prominent state senator Thursday said Gov. Mark Sanford’s supporters were behind recent Internet rumors that Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer is gay. And he encouraged the General Assembly to remove the disgraced governor immediately.

“During the last two months, we have discovered plenty of solid reasons to remove our current governor from office; but now there’s one more reason: the people trying to keep Sanford in power have stooped to a new low with this week’s false character assassination of Bauer,” Knotts wrote.

A national blogger wrote Monday that Bauer is secretly gay and that multiple male sources had confirmed having sexual relations with the lieutenant governor.

So Senator Jake Knotts decides to make it a bigger mess by hollering about it to try and get at Sanford. Lord love a duck!
I'm glad they are concerning themselves with such weighty matters like this rather than a piddling fact that we have double digit unemployment.

continue to march themselves off to the lunatic fringe.

Crazy politicians in Dixie were fine when they were an occasional minority who got re elected just to drive the Yankees crazy, but now whole states are getting a reputation the business people down there neither need nor want.

I have no idea what the lieutenant governor's proclivities might be and don't care as long as they don't involve children or other unwilling people. I do understand his politics are even crazier than Sanford's, which is why people are fighting to keep Sanford any way they can.

9. Actually his politics are different than Sanford's.
Not crazier.

Sanford is a world unto himself, and he won't listen to anybody. Andre is a creature of the legislature, and Knotts is leading him now.

5. A glimpse of mature political argumentation
in the Palmetto State...

Bauer: "I urge the governor to do the honorable and decent thing for the state of South Carolina and step down from his position as governor."

Sanford: "Oh yeah, well you're GAY!"
