Canada plans mock IED attacks in Washington, D.C...........WTF???

http://rawstory.com/blog/2009/09/canada-plans-mock-ied-attacks-in-washington-dc/

Canadian authorities plan to build a sham Afghan village in Washington, D.C., then attack it with IEDs and fake Taliban fighters, in an effort to illustrate what it's like to be a Canadian soldier deployed to the country.

.......I guess it's not enough that film footage/photographs of real attacks on Afghani civilians and Iraqi civilians are routinely censored by the corporate media. Let's set up a make-believe attack on innocent soldiers to show just how brutal the occupied people of those countries can be in their desperate attempts at throwing off corporate global interests....

....I wonder when the Blackwater and Wackenhut mock-up attacks will happen? Those private mercenary firms need some love too......

1. And they're doing this in the US
because americans don't know what it's like to be deployed to afghanistan?

We have more troops in harms way than they do. I'm not sure what they are trying to illustrate here.

2. I know exactly what they are doing.
And think it's a great idea. Can't take people to the war so bring the war to them.

3. Why do it here
and not in canada.

It's based on the assumption that americans know nothing of what the war is like. Considering we have more troops there than they do I'd say canadians are probably in more need of a lesson than we are.

Don't like being there? Then vote to get canadian troops out.

5. Canadian Authorities
Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 03:21 PM by malletgirl02
According to your post it is Canadian Authorities doing this. I agree with you I don't see why Canada's parliament can't just vote, and get their troops out of the war. Plus, the actual citizens of DC, are liberal and would most likely to want to get out of Afghanistan.

4. Uh Americans started this shithole mess--not the Canadians
It is only fitting that WE have more troops in harms way.
They are trying to illustrate what it is like to have this shit happening in your capital city. Perhaps seeking some empathy for the people of that region?

7. And they voluntarily joined us
many countries didn't, clearly they did so of their own choosing.

13. I stated they joined us voluntarily
and many countries did not (that much is evident).

So if you wish to argue with me on that you'll need to prove canada was forced in to afghanistan by the US against their will. You no doubt have proof of this and are just eager to share with the class.

Please, point out how we forced canada to invade a country very much against their will, perhaps we threatened to nuke them if they didn't help out.

6. That has to be
one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Sounds of explosions off Pennsylvania Ave, Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. What's the worst that could happen, right? :sarcasm:

This is probably going to go over as well as that flyover did over Manhattan.

11. The Raw Story is a highly professional news site . . .
Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 04:55 PM by Quasimodem
. . . and yet, I just couldn't believe this story was real until I found a Canadian source.

(The Globe and Mail: http://tinyurl.com/mzj6tt )

This is ill-advised on so many levels that I am at a loss to know where to start.

I'll content myself with suggesting that perhaps the Canadian embassy hasn't considered how many Americans are licensed to carry firearms, or how easy it would be for some local cop, who didn't get the memo, to take a shot at becoming a hero.

Edited to add: The public comments to the Globe and Mail story are equally incredulous.
