Many of the Kids in School Today Remember Obama's Election
Many, most, of the kids in school today remember President Obama's election. They remember like previous generations have remembered moonwalks and tragedies. They felt like they were a part of history(and they were) just about a year ago. I remember watching videos of kids singing songs about Obama. I remember my 7 year old niece telling me that she liked Barack Obama's smile. She told me it wasn't fake like picture's of other candidates. She knew his name and that something was happening. She looked with wide eyed awe when I showed her the campaign sign I had that Michelle Obama had signed.

It means a lot to these kids to be talked to. They are invested. Talk to them, President Obama. Let them know that they matter and that is is important to pay attention to what is going on in the world. Let them know that they are powerful, not powerless as they are too often led to believe.

1. Great post...and yes, the majority will see him and benefit. The others were born into ignorance
anyway so their fate was sealed for a miserable existence from day one.

5. I kept all of my grandchildren home from school to watch the inauguration
They all loved him before the election, independent of me. When my four year old hears Obama's voice on tv she runs into the room yelling "Barack Obama!". She is brassy, outspoken and sharp as a whip. This will be her first year in school and I pity the poor kid who comes to school repeating rw crap from their parents, they will meet a force of nature that will likely leave them in tears.

Stupid as it would be. But just imagine loving BO and having to listen to hateful snarly comments in your home. Edited to add that my 3yo grandson thrusts his fist high into the air and yells "Gobama" when he sees the President's picture.
