2. No one is censoring the president. Complaining about forcing kids to watch his talk is free speech.
I take no comfort in imitating the knuckledraggers.

4. Banning the speech? I guessed I've missed where someone has banned his speech.
In our school district, the teachers can choose to do what they want. Just like any other aspect of their curriculum. Makes sense to me. I really don't care if my youngest gets the see the speech or not. If her teacher doesn't show it in class, we'll pick it up on the internet.

8. Its really been a mixed bag as to why some schools are not showing it.
Best one I have seen is that it is an in service day so classes are not being held.

5. Speaking to America's schoolchildren is
perfectly appropriate. Sending out the advance letter specifying the content of the lesson to be used along with the address was inappropriate. The White House communications staff needs to be re-evaluated. They are not serving the president well.

6. Bullshit
They didn't specify a lesson plan. It was OPTIONAL, and it came from the Department of Education.

7. Regardless of source, the flawed "optional documents" are what opened the floodgate
It gave a modicum of credibility to the complaints and the subsequent withdrawal made the current administration look guilty of attempting to do what its detractors were claiming. It was just about as dumb as it gets.

There seem to be more amateurs in this administration that there were in Carter's.
