Republicans, bat-shit-crazy as they are, may seem to be getting worse, but not really.
I don't think they've got any worse, I just think there are less of them. So where we used to get somewhat dilute horseshit from them now its much more concentrated; concentrated ugly you might call it. As moderate Republicans peeled off their moderating voices have been lost and what remains, the dregs of the Party, have become its voice.

Contrast that to the Democratic Party where it is not the moderates that peel off, but in fact we lose the cream of the crop, the driving force behind all new initiates, the Progressive wing.

The result is straight forward, as they become nastier we become more docile - a formula guaranteed to defeat progressive measures.

Your observations about the right wing crazies is an example of how they've been shoved down our throats at every opportunity.

Agree with him or not, Obama has the been salve that soothes more often than not, imo.
