The hunt is on for more ammunition in Nevada, U.S.
The scarcity of ammunition is part of a trend that began immediately after the presidential election, retailers say,

"If you go to Wal-Mart you've got two hours after they unload until they're basically cleaned out," he said.

3. It is a self perpetuating problem at this point. Panic buying. It is starting to ease up.
Tons of people go to the store and see that all the ammo is gone. So the first chance they get they buy 10,000 rounds, instead of the 50 rounds they actually are going to use. That of course empties the shelves. And the next guy that comes in sees empty shelves.

5. I think it's great
Let these idiots waste their money on ammo they have no use for. They really won't use much more than they usually do hunting and target shooting. Now they are paying top dollar because of the demand. They will see soon enough that they could have just waited and bought ammo as they needed it.
Ok, so we'll have some clown come in here and tell me he stocked up before the run on ammo. Fuck you Earl! I don't believe you. I suppose you saw the market crash coming and dumped your 401k into cash too?
These guys would never have the balls to take on the Feds even if they did come for their guns anyway. It won't happen but if it did we'd see them hiding behind their wives and kids.

14. You DO realize that there are those who BOTH bought ammo early AND saved their 401k's...right?
I'm not claiming to be one of them.

...I didn't buy nearly enough ammo.

13. There weren't two wars during Clinton. That's the real reason for the shortage.

16. No they don't.
Everybody in country is complaining to the ammo companies non stop to produce more ammo. But the ammo companies know this is all temporary, and in fact, probably an ammo glut is coming. So there is no way they are going to build more factories. So they just have to deal with everybody bitching and sending emails, an calling on the phone all day long.

The owner of Hornady came out publicly and told everybody to chill out and stop hording ammo.He was pretty pissed.
