Funniest Damn Letter I've Ever Read
Here's a bizarrely ironic, unintentionally hilarious letter to the editor I read in Sunday's Omaha World Herald. This guy is mad at union members because they don't say "how low" when the boss says bend over. I'm not sure whether this guy's sycophantic attitude derives from some kind of Stockholm Syndrome-type disorder, or plain ol' stupidity, but this is a perfect example of the kind of right-wing dementia we deal with every day here in Nebraska.
Read and enjoy:

No special rights for unions
There are both union and non-union employees in my place of employment.

Non-union employees were told we had to take a pay cut, and we said OK. Union employees were asked to take a pay cut, and they said no thanks.

Non-union employees were told they had to take some furlough days off without pay, and we said OK. Union employees were asked if they would take some days off without pay, and they said, “Are you crazy? We’re union.”

And so it goes with the many different unions in Omaha. Since when does being a union member mean someone doesn’t have to live by the same general rules as the rest of us?

I missed the memo that said unions now run our businesses. If the head of a company decides a wage cut or furlough is necessary to keep the company healthy, everyone should have to take the wage cut or furlough.
James Evans, Bellevue

44. Keep telling yourself that in the unemployment line Jimmy...
Because any employer who cares as little as yours obviously does about their employees doesn't give a damn about rewarding your work. They see your hard work as necessary for whatever pittance they deign to pay you and they expect you to be grateful you ever had a job after they lay you off.

Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you Jimmy.

He and his other shat-upons could form a union with an assist from EFCA. Simply turn in that card that says you want to form a bargaining unit, and wah-la! 15. I hear one particular RW meme occasionally
it goes something like, 'no poor man ever offered me a job,' apparently a bid to justify paying CEOs salaries that run in the tens of millions of $ annually.

I got in an argument on my local Gannett fishwrap's website with a freeper type and that line came up. I pointed out that the rich man typically doesn't pay his wages; it's the corporation. When it failed to convince him, I made a comment along the lines that he was worshiping at the pasty rump of the rich man, and my comment got removed. It was worth it.

Previous editions are only available to subscribers. If you are a subscriber, it's still a pain in the arse. First you have to log in, then go to the site map, then find the customer service features, then click on e-edition, then find the date and page you want. In this case it was Sept. 6th, page B-6.

Guess what bud, the union members have a contract. Also, the CEO and upper exec types have contracts. But you, Mr James Evans of Bellvue, do not have a contract, so they can do any damn thing they want to you. If you don't like the way you're being treated, don't blame it on workers who are smart enough to vote on a contract for themselves, get off your ass and help your department/division get a contract of their own, I'm sure there is a union out there that would be happy to help you by sending an organizer to your workplace.

43. I continue to marvel at the stupidiity of so many of my fellow Americans
Please let me continue his rant...

Non-Union were told we had to handle toxic, cancer causing chemicals with no safety clothing or breathing apparattus, and we said OK. Union employees were asked to handle the same chemicals with no safety gear and they said they wouldn't do it.

Non-Union employees were told that we would have to work 12hr shifts, 6 days a week with no breaks and half the money and we said OK. They told the union employees that they would have to work 12hr shifts, 6 days a week with no breaks and half the money and they said they would sue the owners for breaching their work contract.

I could go on and on, but the insanity is pretty self-evident.
