Joe Wilson reveals that outing wife Valerie wasn't Bush admins first attack

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_5660865

<snip>

First, he said, the White House was "going to go after me as a womanizer, because I've been married more than once. Then, they were going to go after me because I dabbled in drugs in college. I wasn't embarrassed. So they went after my wife."

In doing so, Wilson added, "they committed treason."

Whether the outing of Valerie Plame rose to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, Libby's conviction and its continuing fallout are the kinds of things Wilson referred to after his speech.

An earnest young man challenged Wilson about America's many shortcomings.

"We're not perfect," Wilson told the young man, "but the struggle for democracy moves us in the right direction."

Even if that direction leads from the White House to the penitentiary.

1. Treason!
By exposing Brewster Jennings & Associates and Valerie Plame's role as a non-official cover agent of the CIA, Bush and his cronies reduced the national security of the United States during wartime. That is a capital offense. And they are traitors.

14. Here.

"The way I remember it," the CIA official said about that first meeting he attended in Cheney's office, "is that the vice president was obsessed with Wilson. He called him an 'asshole,' a son-of-a-bitch. He took his comments very personally. He wanted us to do everything in our power to destroy his reputation and he wanted to be kept up to date about the progress."

A spokeswoman for Cheney would not comment for this story, saying the investigation into the leak is ongoing. The spokeswoman refused to give her name. Additional calls made to Cheney's office were not returned.

The CIA, State Department and National Security Council officials said that early on they had passed on information about Wilson to Cheney and Libby that purportedly showed Wilson as being a "womanizer" and that he had dabbled in drugs during his youth, allegations that are apparently false, they said. he said "I wasn't embarrassed." This would indicate he was keenly aware of what they were doing while they were doing it.

For more information, just do a quick google run. Here's information from that time:
Why Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame Filed
By Jason Leopold
t r u t h o u t | Report

Friday 14 July 2006

~snip~
CIA and State Department officials said that a day after Wilson's March 8, 2003, CNN appearance, they attended a meeting at the Vice President's office with Cheney, Hadley and others who worked in the Office of the Vice President and it was there that a decision was made to discredit Wilson.

The CIA, State Department and National Security Council officials said that early on they had passed on information about Wilson to Cheney and Libby that purportedly showed Wilson as being a "womanizer" and that he had dabbled in drugs during his youth, allegations that are apparently false, they said.

The officials said that during the meeting, Hadley said he would respond to Wilson's comments by writing an editorial about the Iraqi threat, which it was hoped would be a first step in overshadowing Wilson's CNN appearance.

A column written by Hadley that appeared in the Chicago Tribune on February 16, 2003, was redistributed to newspaper editors by the State Department on March 10, 2003, two days after Wilson was interviewed on CNN. The column, "Two Potent Iraqi Weapons: Denial and Deception" once again raised the issue that Iraq had tried to purchase uranium from Niger.

9. I agree with Wilson. It was treason.
And it is a measure of how sick our democracy is, and how far we have yet to go to heal it, that traitors are still running our government, and have "Hail to the Chief" played by a military band when they poke their heads out of their bunkers--and are even honored by the war profiteering corporate news monopolies as important commentators on our political life (Novak).

Granted, it is unusual--without precedent--to have treason committed in the Oval Office, and to have a president and vice president who deliberately and maliciously harmed our national security and endangered covert agents. The powers-that-be--even the good guys among them--are perhaps loathe to admit it, because it could shake the foundations of the country--already quite shaken by this gang of murderers and thieves--sink the dollar, crash the stock market, create civil unrest and instability. It's no small thing to think of a trial of the President of the US for treason. Even a known crook like Nixon was permitted to live out the rest of his life in dignity and luxury. (Not that I agreed with that--but I'm not a power-that-bees.) The pomp, the prestige, and the sheer profit of the presidency (good for billions and billions of dollars, to war profiteers and others) must be maintained! Whoever sits there can nuke everybody--the whole world gone in the blink of an eye. It's awesome. It's majestical. Can't have that person be known to be a stinking lousy thief or traitor.

Anyway, I think that's sort of the underneath of things--of why nothing has been done. Me, I'm for de-imperializing the presidency--which can't really be done until we rid ourselves of nuclear weapons, but we could make a start by impeaching, prosecuting and jailing these sons-of-bitches--although my favorite punishment for Bushites is not jail; it's a lifetime of community service cleaning bedpans in Veterans' hospitals.

I don't believe in hanging. That's just more of their sickness.

10. it's not unusual to have treason committed by those in the oval office...
at least since 1969.

Nixon and Reagan used very similar tactics in 68 and 80, both using contacts with FOREIGN goverments to SABOTAGE talks with those same governments, taking place with the sitting US administration

the first October surprise took place under Kissinger's aegis in 68, the second, most likely under the direction of William Casey.

it's all out there, very plainly evident

TREASON, writ large

then, there was 43's complicity in Iran/Contra. One only needs to look at his pardons of Clarridge, Fiers, Abrams, MacFarlane, Weinberger, and George to understand the depth of his own complicity

16. Cheney's "obsessions" with Wilson could be related to this...
I know - it's Wayne Madsen, but even if a sliver of this were true, it would explain a lot. I always was suspicious of Cheney being somehow into high-end weapons trafficking because of his relationship to Libby and Libby's relationship to Marc Rich.

"April 6-8, 2007 -- The CIA's Counter-Proliferation Division (CPD) and British intelligence have evidence that then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney lost three nuclear weapons in 1991. This was later used as a pretext to create the phony Niger yellowcake uranium story in the event the nukes showed up in Iraqi hands. At least one of the nukes, however, ended up in the hands of North Korea. WMR has been told by a well-placed intelligence source in Britain that in early February 1991, the Pentagon sent out an emergency message rarely seen: three "Broken Arrows," or lost nuclear weapons in U.S. possession, were jettisoned in the Indian Ocean by a U.S. Air Force B-52, which had caught fire en route from Diego Garcia with three weapons of mass destruction being transported from South Africa after that nation began dismantling its nuclear weapons program. On a return emergency route back to the U.S. base on Diego Garcia, the crew of the aircraft disposed of the bombs to avoid a cook off of their heat-sensitive triggered fuses. The B-52 later crashed. The three bombs landed in shallow waters off the Somali coast. Rather than retrieve the weapons, Cheney and the Bush I administration sat on their hands. In May 1991, the bombs were allegedly recovered by mercenaries working for Zimbabwean arms dealer John Bredenkamp, who is close to the regime of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. The North Koreans have had a long standing military relationship with Mugabe and Bredenkamp.

WMR has learned that, although there was speculation the lost nuclear weapons ended up in the hands of Iran (and a strong but false belief by Cheney and his neo-con advisers that they went to Iraq), at least one was transferred to North Korea. Dr. Stephen Dresch, a former Michigan legislator and head of Forensic Intelligence, Inc., who helped criminally link FBI agent Lindley DeVecchio and mobster Greg Scarpa, Sr. of the Colombo crime family, discovered that the lost U.S. nuclear weapons wound up on the international black market and his report on the incident reached MI-6 in December 2003. Dresch also attended, along with a professional photographer, the coroner's inquest of British Ministry of Defense weapons of mass destruction expert Dr. David Kelly in 2004. There is reason to believe that Kelly was fully aware that one of the lost nuclear weapons was transferred to North Korea by international arms smugglers and that this information was also known to Vice President Cheney. Dresch died last August at age 62 of lung cancer. "

"Although WMR has learned that the lost nuclear weapons did not go to either Iraq or Iran, Cheney could have been caught up in a major scandal of his cover-up of the three lost nukes in 1991. WMR has learned that British Prime Minister Tony Blair was informed about the lost U.S. nukes before the Iraq War in 2003. He was also informed by British intelligence that these nuclear weapons had not ended up in Iraqi hands and that the massive U.S. military build-up against Saddam Hussein was a product of Cheney wrongly believing that the lost nukes were in the possession of the Iraqis. Cheney also later falsified intelligence to show that the North Korean bomb was procured from a DIY (do-it-yourself) kit obtained from the A Q Khan nuclear smuggling network in Pakistan.

Cheney chose to attack and roll up Valerie Plame Wilson and her Brewster Jennings and Associates non-official cover firm network in an attempt to throw them off the trail of the missing nukes. There is speculation that missing retired Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and FBI agent Robert Levinson, a private investigator who recently disappeared on the Iranian free trade island of Kishn on a trip from Dubai, may have been tracking the lost nukes. Levinson is a veteran of investigating Russian-Israeli mobsters, weapons smugglers operating out of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and drug smuggling. Levinson is quoted in the late Robert Friedman's trailblazing book on the Russian-Israeli Mafia, Red Mafiya: How the Russian Mob Has Invaded America."

What the hell are you talking about? Imus - what? If you're referring to Madsen's sight and the Imus piece, you couldn't even think to scroll down farther mid-page to find the article I was referring to? Or was that not your purpose? Or purely to just shut this thread down so no one else could read this. Interesting. Now flame away and tell me us must be a freeper because I have less than 1000 posts - go ahead.

29. Wasn't Wilson involved in negotiations re the Hostage Situation in Iran back in Carter's admin?
Same situation the GOP 'handled' by holding Iran off from releasing by promising (promises they kept) weapons via third party?

Same ol guys involved in THIS administration, and remember bush 43 shutting the door on viewing a lot of Presidential Papers from the past.

http://www.btinternet.com/~nlpWESSEX/Documents/coupreaganbush.htm <--- lots about Iran hostage, Iran Contra players at link too.

"The US president, George Bush, last night signed an executive order that allows either a past or sitting president to block access to White House papers, a move that has angered historians, journalists and former president Bill Clinton. The order amends - and some argue, reverses - a 1978 law that allowed journalists, historians and other interested parties to read presidential papers twelve years after the term of office finished. The law, known as the Presidential Records Act, was the result of a lengthy legal battle over the papers of Watergate president Richard Nixon. Under the terms of Mr Bush's order, any sitting or former president could veto the release of presidential papers. The current president could not override a former president's veto, nor could a former president override the decision of sitting president....The immediate provocation for last night's order is believed to be an outstanding request for 68,000 pages of former president Ronald Reagan's papers, which should have been opened to public scrutiny in January. The Bush administration has delayed that release three times, and yesterday White House counsel Alberto Gonzales would not say when or if the Reagan documents will be placed in the public domain. Some historians have voiced suspicions that the Bush administration is worried about what the Reagan papers might reveal about officials now working for Mr Bush.... the order would also mean that Mr Bush's personal papers detailing the decision-making process in the current war on terrorism could remain secret in perpetuity."

Same rat bastards then as now, just changed office locations. Larceny & treason to protect previous larceny & treason.

Haven't had time to read through all the materials linked on this page http://consortiumnews.com/archive/xfile.html I DO remember a lot of it from back in the day though. Back then, when media consolidation was just getting legalized, we still had SOME news being reported. Looks like that link has some mighty good reads and resources.

The current junta hates Joe Wilson because of what he know about them. They have the papers locked up but Joe is one loose end they haven't tied down.

Ms Plame ran a network that tracked weapons materials. She/her people would be able to disprove the bush/cheney lies about Iraq WMD prior to the latest war, but she couldn't step up as her network would be destroyed and they were still watching all the other REAL threats in the globe (some of which the junta masters are STILL reaping profits from via continued wars and threats of wars). Valerie Plame's work was a threat to the bush/cheney junta. Hard for them to sell lies so long as Plame's network could provide the truth about weapons to the CIA.

Wilson & Plame were a stone wall cheney couldn't get around - so he blew it. Lots of dead people in the wake. More to come as wars keep popping up. But hell, there's money in those wars and since nobody important to the powers has their neck stuck out, what difference does the body count make to them?
