Did George Soros get Don Imus fired?
This article was sent to me with a note asking why George Soros was taking credit for Imus getting fired. What am I missing here? It's a very interesting article but I don't see a Soros connection mentioned:

1. I have pretty much barely commented on this whole distracting deal but the
thought occurred to me that though much of what Imus broadcast was really offensive, who else in the corporate media has repeately called * & the VP treasonous war criminals. . .?

I'd start a thread about it but. . .then again, maybe not.

Soros is way beyond that stuff IMHO.

17. How about

"I don't see a Soros connection here. Are you sure this wasn't something schemed up by Clinton? Or Jackson? Or Sharpton? Or maybe Nifong to get the attention off his butt?

WAIT! I bet this was Rove, trying to burying the story about the missing emails that got deleted (you hear about that? Imagine...)

In any event, looks like Soros is in the clear since he isn't affiliated with Media Matters, nor mentioned in this article."

(then add links showing the Soros-Media Matters connection is bogus)

Sign it "CHEERS!"

6. I repeated your point on another thread
Edited on Fri Apr-13-07 06:23 PM by malaise
It is a very important point since while Imus was offensive and attacked the wrong women this time, it was the perfect moment for the advertisers to remove him given not only his comments re treason and war criminal, but also because he said several times that Cheney should be hanged.

MSNBC that bastion of GE propaganda is now pretending to be oh so virtuous and has Dick Gregory chatting crap about the integrity of their station. Give me a fugging break.
Edit:spelling/gr.

Where did ya post it?

You can start a thread about it if you are so inclined.

I was just fried on the whole thing but that thought just occurred to me earlier in the week.

Feel that it's on target.

12. link backing up trumad's reply...
Drudge falsely claimed Soros funds Media Matters

Internet gossip Matt Drudge has claimed that Media Matters for America is a "Soros operation."

In fact, Media Matters has never received funding from progressive philanthropist George Soros.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200704130012

You're sure to see more outlets on the Right and in the mainstream media linking Soros to Media Matters because Drudge "rules their world," in the words of ABC News' Mark Halperin.

8. you made the mistake of actually reading the article... ;-)
Edited on Fri Apr-13-07 06:12 PM by progdonkey
I doubt your "friend" even did that. Someone probably wrote at some Freeper website "George Soros' Media Matters responsible for getting Imus fired," since we all know that George Soros is behind everything on the Left, and had the link to the article.

Your guy then probably just copied the article address without bothering to read it (reading's hard work for them Republicans), and sent it to you with the original comment, but now as a question.

Or he's an O'Reilly viewer, who frequently bitches about "Soros-funded smear sites" like Media Matters unfairly attacking him. I'm unsure as to whether Media Matters receives any let alone a substantial amount of money from Soros, but regardless they are completely separate, except in the minds of O'Reilly and now his viewers. So, when your friend saw "Media Matters," he read "George Soros."

19. Don Imus got Don Imus fired
Fact is, his former employers gave him plenty of chances but he just kept up being an ass. Eventually, when you piss off enough customers, the boss will give ya the boot.
