before I tell you what I found, let me tell you what I saw. It was a disgusting scare ad against healthcare reform. The ad does its best to scare the hell out of senior citizens.
Here is a link to this vile pack of lies and disinformation. It is titled "Don't pay for healthcare reform on the backs of seniors" You need to scroll down a little to find it.
http://www.60plus.org/about-rm.aspNow this s what I found out after a short google search.
Surprise, it's nothing more than a front group for the pharmaceutical industry. The 60 Plus Association is a 501(c)(4) non profit, with offices on K street. SourceWatch states that AARP reported in 2006 that virtually all large contributions to the 60 Plus Association come from the pharmeceutical industry. Here's a link.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=60_Plus_Association#Ads_Opposing_2009_Healthcare_PlanIt's founder and president, James L. Martin has been a republican insider for years, once serving a six year stint as Chief of Staff to the late Senator Gurney, from Florida from 1964 to 69.
The 60 Plus Association has been reported to be heavily involved with the astroturfing of healthcare forums.
Now comes my major point. I do this shit all the time. Why? Curiosity. I don't like being played the fool. Just a few keystrokes, a couple of minutes, a handful of websites and, voila, a whole host of information at my fingertips. So, why, why why are most Americans too lazy to do something as simple as this, so that they can get a clearer picture of facts regarding important issues that directly impact us all?
How many seniors will these assholes scare with these lies?
I will always and forever be amazed at how so many people take what others say at face value, without doing even five minutes worth of research.
