Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 01:45 PM by halobeam
Holding the sign, in the middle. Sure looks like him to me. Trust me, I've seen MANY pics of him. LOL love that guy.

on edit: Husband just laughed at me, it says on the right side it's Jackson. On one hand, yes I'm pathetic, OTOH, I knew his face with shades on. Holy.... LOL:rofl:

8. I would've shouted, "World in Motion!!!" way to go Jackson!
Sun going down in the usa
Down on main theres a family sleeping in a doorway
Around the corner you can hear the sound
People dancing around the golden calf
Those who have not, those who have

On the billboards and the t.v. screens
They got food and cars and toys and trucks and jeans
Like a homeless childs fitfull dreams
Smiling faces free from wanting
Lifes abundances beyond counting

World in motion -- speed your changes
Close your distances, find your angels
Lose your fears and meet your dangers
World in motion

Once we were running through smoke and fireRunning into the sun
In the rush of youth, for love and truth
Our deeds were done
Now we awake with a world at stake
And a race we run
We run

Sun going down on the usa
Sun coming up a hundred years away
On another world and another time
Things like hunger, greed and hatred
One way or another, gonna be eradicated

World in motion -- speed your changes
Close your distances, drive your angels
Lose your fears and meet your dangers
World in motion

till the world I look out at this world and see
Is the world I know this world can be
You have a volunteer in me
Now come on

14. Looks like him to me, too.
DH and I saw Jackson Browne open for Tom Petty a year or two ago. He still puts on a great show.

12. Back in 68
when Mayor Daly had his goons beating the crap out of protesters at the Democratic convention the crowd started chanting "The whole world is watching."
The message to our elected officials is the whole country is watching and we will vote them out of office if they don't represent our wishes.
The upside of all of this is the Bush crime family will be off the political landscape for the foreseeable future. It will take decades to recover from their damage to the world, but W has effectively neutered them.

13. I watched with Pink's "Dear Mr. President" in the background
I'm crying a mixture of tears. Tears of both profound sadness for the death and destruction and profound hope for our future.

15. Thanks! I was there!
K&R, of course.

In my opinion, there were MORE people at this rally than at the one in September. Don't believe the media lies about the crowd turnout---there were easily at least 500K, if not more. There had to be, because the marchers who started off first finished the route before others had begun to move off of the Mall.

 to all my DU friends marching with me! I love you lots!!!!!!!!!!

18. My friend who sat and watched the march
told me today that she sat for an hour and watched people 35-40 abreast walk by her for over an hour. And that was a good hour after the march started, plus they were still coming with no end in sight when she left. Do the math.

Yes it was awesome. And remember David and the bush effigy? He was interviewed by the NY Times and he is quoted in today's article - on page 20, BTW. Go David!!

20. "The community of conscience and understanding"
Seeing those good souls on the march heartens me, and brings to mind words from the late Edward Said:

"If only more Americans and others can grasp that the main long-range hope for the world is this community of conscience and understanding, that whether in the protection of constitutional rights, or in reaching out to the innocent victims of American power (as in Iraq), or in relying on understanding and rational analysis 'we' can do a great deal better than we have so far done."

Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 07:04 AM by fedupinBushcountry
"Thousands of protesters" I think we need to start protesting the media too, what lame headlines. They are as much to blame for this mess.

I was there, and it was so large that I missed seeing a lot of what was shown in those pictures, and I was walking around for 2 hours before the march even started.

Lex, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you, but we know that DU was well represented. :patriot:

23. Counter Protesters....
I heard there was 40 of them... bwa ha ha.

Everyone has the right to a voice but it is amazing how the majority of the voices speaking right now are from our camp.

Wake Up Senators because the rest of our Govt certainly is still asleep at the wheel.
