Anti-Abortion activist shot and killed outside of Michigan High School
Owosso High School Remains on Lockdown

Friday, September 11, 2009 at 8:41 a.m.

The Owosso High School is on lockdown until further notice.

The entire school district was put on lock down early this morning, after an anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed outside the High School. The Elementary, Middle, and Alternative Ed school have been taken off the lockdown. The High School students should be addressed soon.

NBC25 is told he was a well-known anti-abortion activist in the city of Owosso and stands in very visible areas with large graphic anti-abortion signs.

1. This is not good news
Hopefully the shooter was not motivated by the domestic terrorist's anti-choice stance and this was a domestic episode.

Normally I would feel bad, but for some reason I don't. That doesn't mean I feel good about it either, I guess I feel neutral.

This shooting may have nothing to do with his anti-abortion stance at all, though I'm sure that the anti-choice asshats are going to use this for their own gain.

that says something.

i have had this type of behavior in the area i live, and regardless of what side of the fence a person is on, i just have the toughest of time giving this to our children with any kind of sane explanation.

Murder is evil, either way.

It is a shame that the rhetoric in this country is so vile, whether any of it had to do with this death or now, who knows at this point. But even if it doesn't, the right will use this to further their goals.

We are in sad shape no matter what.

The Flint Journal reports the shooting took place around 7:30 a.m. today, and a suspect was taken into custody about 45 minutes later at the suspect’s home.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

20. Police say second apparent homicide discovered this morning in Owosso Township
Owosso Police Chief Michael Compeau said it appears the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Department is investigating a second homicide this morning that may be related to the shooting that occurred in front of Owosso High School.

State police confirmed the second apparent homicide was at or near Fuoss Gravel Pit on Busha Road near M-21 in Owosso Township.
...
Members of the state police crime lab are on their way to Shiawassee County right now, and will be looking at whether the two crimes are indeed linked.
