Holder: Bush official who lied under oath will NOT be charged

Holder won't charge Bush Justice Department official who lied

Attorney General Eric Holder has decided not to bring any criminal charges against a former Bush administration official who lawmakers said lied to them in sworn testimony.

An inspector general's report found that Bradley Schlozman, the former head of the civil rights division, misled lawmakers about whether he politicized hiring decisions.

Criminal prosecutors eyed the matter but decided not to file any criminal charges for his under-oath denials of making personnel decisions based on politics.

At his February confirmation hearing, Holder pledged he would review that decision when he took over the department.

Holder's decision was revealed in a letter sent to lawmakers on Friday.

7. That is bullshit.
What's the rationalization for there being no consequences? Did this guy roll on someone else?

They impeached a sitting president for lying under oath about a blow job... but this guy lies about politicizing the freaking justice department and walks? :wtf:

15. Not just The Schlozz. This is a message to all Bush criminals
They really do not want us to find out about what happened over the last 8 years. I wonder how many Democrats were involved.

14. Aw, what's the big schmeal?
I mean, shoot, just because some people were able to purchase justice and others weren't, the only people who'd really get bent out of shape about that would be those on the wrong side of the fence. They could have chosen to be corrupt and play ball with the Bush administration, but for some silly reason or other (Morality? Ethics? Some other inconvenient personal failing?) decided not to do so. Why should the Department of Justice be some special castle-in-the-air kind of place where the law is not only respected but observed?

Thanks, AG Holder. Thanks a fucking heap. Nice to see that the Republicans don't even have to make a stink about being held responsible for their crimes anymore. Just the threat of a bunch of partisan whining yammering is enough to make you betray your office. Job well done. Asshole.

27. When Obama loses in 2012 --
and I'm pretty sure that's what will happen -- a lot of the blame will fall directly on his shoulders. It's not just the underlings causing this.

28. Congress _could_ refuse to fund Holder's salary in the next fiscal year...
cut it right out of the President's budget until he gets an AG who will uphold the law.

but they won't, sigh...
