Shame On You, Joe Wilson

Target: Representative Joe Wilson
Sponsored by: Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

As President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress on the need for health insurance reform, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina actually screamed out "you lie" on the House floor in front of the full Congress and the entire nation.

President Obama called on Congress to act on health insurance reform but also to echo the words of the late Senator Ted Kennedy by showing the "character of our country." And this is how House Republicans respond?

Disrespecting the President before the eyes of the nation and just at the moment when President Obama was offering his solution to the greatest challenge of our time is truly an outrage.

As President Obama said during his speech, "If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out." Start right now with Congressman Joe Wilson. Tell Representatve Wilson: Shame on you!

1. Done.
Why do you hate America, you asshole?

I don't know what's worse - wilson and what he did, or the fact that there are yahoos all over his district and elsewhere who think he "dun good."

Leaves me just shaking my head in utter disgust.

5. Signed, with the following comment:
Your boorish and disrespectful behavior is appalling, and has brought shame to you, your family, you constituents, your state, the House of Representatives, and the National Guard, but what could one expect from a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans? In addition, you are costing one of the most economically depressed states in the US much needed revenue due to boycotts directly related to your vile behavior. As a resident of SC, I will do everything in my power to support your opponent, Rob Miller in the next election. Words have consequences, and I sincerely hope yours lead to your political downfall asap!

9. This guy needs to hear a LOT of messages like this one.

From many different authors with many different ways of expressing the same idea. Who knows? ONE of those expressions just might get through. Stranger things have happened. (Like him!) I sent him an email on that order, too. He absolutely did disgrace himself, his family, his constituents (they elect him - what does that say about them?), his state (which already has republi-CON baboons aplenty, thankyouverymuch), his political party (they're probably proud of this but what else would you expect from a slowly shrinking, slowly regionalizing bunch of Kool-aid guzzlers), Congress in general, and yes, the National Guard and veterans.

And he needs to hear THAT side of it, a LOT. The more he hears of it, the harder it'll be for him to dismiss or ignore it.

Yes - hijacking a page from their own how-to-fuck-up-a-town-hall-meeting playbook - as many of us who can, need to get in his face and rattle him but good. DESTABILIZE THE ENEMY. They make more stupid mistakes that way. Turnabout's fair play. Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. The only way to deal with a bully is to hit back - preferably harder.

We also need to be Assholes, like Bill Maher described while exhorting President Obama to do the same. He recalled Mohammed Ali who was also a forceful, extremely compelling speaker - BUT he could also punch somebody in the face.
