Bill Maher Says: Democrats need to get OFF Their Asses!

I know Bill Maher can be a bit Harsh but he makes a good point about taking to the Streets for Health Care Reform!

Bill Maher correctly points out that Democrats need to get of their butts and Stop yelling at the TV!
'
‘Democrats just never learn. Americans don't really care which side of an issue you're on as long as you don't act like Wimps," Maher said.

Republicans can get things done," he says because their As*holes, but we must find our own Inner As*hole"

tazzz's diary :: :: He asks the Question... When Are Demcrats going to STAND UP…

Maher explains that
Glenn Beck's Army of Zombies Retiree’s will be showing up on Washington today which he calls "The Million Moran March"... and that they will make News because people that take to the Streets Always Do…

"They were at Town Halls Screaming at Congressmen, while we were on the Couch Screaming at the Television"

He’s says in this day and age, “It’s a Statement to just Leave the House”
But Leave the House We Must" because this is Our Last Best Shot to Get
Serious Health Care Reform!

WE OUT NUMBERED THESE "NUTTY REPUBLICAN'S JOE'S" LAST YEAR, WE HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN!

About three minutes into it he goes off!

5. Bill's best shows are the ones that there aren't wingnuts on his panel. Bill is informed but not
often informed enough to combat the lies that those people.

And yes, last night was indeed one of the best. :)

3. i've always said that it's going to take a MASSIVE march on dc to get real healthcare reform...
and i don't think that any of the Democrats in power want that to happen- or they would be calling for the people to do just that.

a unified date HAS to be decided on and SET- and time is running out FAST as winter approaches.

if we can't get 4-5 million people to descend on dc- we don't really deserve reform.

4. He's right
but that isn't going to change anything. There will not be meaningful health care reform.

Why?

Because the President seems to lack a principled commitment toward achieving health care reform - hence his ever changing support of single payer then a public option and then maybe some type of co-op or mandated insurance program. WTF? That kind of directionless crap is an indication that the only real commitment is toward doing SOMETHING to meddle in healthcare regardless of just how effective it is in addressing the issues.

The President also seems to lack both the political will and the political skills to accomodate both the more liberal and more conservative interests in the party. Dems control the House the Senate and the Presidency. There is no fucking reason why they cannot enact meaningful health care reform. Except that would require some compromise and dealmaking. Some real give and take probably on multiple issues. And some party discipline.

6. Drives me crazy that the 65+ crowd is the one making all the noise
What is it about "we just want what you have" AND "our premiums will shore up the system" to these idiots not get?

I agree. We need to be more vocal as a group. Not sure what else to do though. Both of my Senators (and the WH) have heard from me endlessly on this. My Rep responded with a 20 page cut and paste screed about why we need to support Insurance and Pharma. He's too far to the right to even reason with.
