And Glenn Beck's Teabagging Party Becomes A Total Bust
Crowd sizes too small to garner much notice on the weekend Reality Journalism TeeVee Shows.

Not even Faux is covering it much.

Beck pushed 2,000,000 as his expectation for six months.

Last night, in a desperate attempt to lower the expectations dramatically, his organization said 20,000.

Today, organizers are claiming 30,000. You just know Park Police estimates will be lower.

Epic Fail

6. Yeah, but how big were the protests against W's coup in 2000 / 2001?
I went to one in May 2001 that was dubbed "million voter march". I wish we would have had 30,000. I figured about 3000 and others supported my number. I think CNN reported about 1000, if I remember correctly.

I despise Beck and what these people stand for but they got 10 times as many out to protest whatever they're protesting today, and we got maybe a tenth of that who cared about democracy.

There's a lesson there, I think, and it's not a good idea to ignore it.

20. Actually 2 that I can think of at the moment.
1) the reich-wing is much better than we are at mobilizing

2) people generally don't give a shit about democracy, even on the so-called "left". (Okay that was my takeaway from the 2001 march which I did attend.)

38. How then do you explain the landslide for Pres Obama? Talk about mobilization.
I think your impression that people on the left don't give a shit about democracy is off base.

36. Your Protest Didn't Have A National "News" Network Promoting It
Nor did it have a national radio personality also promoting it for about 7 months.

Given the amount of national publicity, the march today was a complete failure.

41. Um -- There have been plenty of HUGE liberal protests for various causes.
I was in a pro-choice march in '92 that drew hundreds of thousands. There was another one in, maybe, '04 that was about half a million. There have been GIGANTIC, global anti-war marches that, if they were covered by the media at all, focused on one or two of the most "out there" protesters (anarchists, or what have you). A million and a half people showed up for Obama's inauguration (not that that was a protest). And so on.

Yes, we DO get the crowds. It's the media coverage we don't get.

42. We had a massive march on Tallahassee on inauguration day in 2001
there was also a huge protest in DC the same day. Tens of thousands at the very least, but the MSM barely covered any of it.

ya know ole Beckerhead tries too hard by ramming things down his followers throats that it becomes just a tad too much to swallow.

16. So NOWWWWWW can we finally put any arguments to rest by talking heads when our people are on as
guests, and the talking head says AMERICA is out there voicing it's strong disgust about Obamacare - and dutifully point out that few idiots in each county joining up at a rally ain't "AMERICA!!!!" and point out Beck's less than 200K (I'm sure it will be far less as we're hearing), that he said would be 2 MILLION!

27. CNN was pimping it hard this morning...
...with "30,000 expected." I heard that claim two or three times while waiting for my car to get out of the shop. There was a mention of a "growing crowd."

I don't think CNN gave this much coverage to the hundreds of thousands of antiwar protesters.

Oh, well--at least the shop seems to have switched away from Fox.

then when the truth came out (as it always does) it all became a pathetic joke.

The sum total of Glenn Beck's life? Yep, a pathetic joke.
