If any state chose to secede, and then actually did, it would be as split as the country is now.

Not one state is so heavily one way or another that it could expect to avoid the divisiveness that infects the US these days.

1. Well, there is Oklahoma
and they'd just use the "Greenwood" option to keep their libruls in line.

2. No, but what if you took all the tea-baggers, seccessionists, etc.
and resettled them to a relatively unpopulated yet sympathetic state (I'm thinking Oklahoma or Wyoming) and let them forge their new dream of AynRandia there. The few liberals or progressives that live in those states would probably be happy to resettle somewhere where sanity prevails.

6. That would be a good idea
Let them put their money where their mouths are - see if they would really move there.

A few years ago Libertarians tried this. They were considering several states - but it flopped because they were not really willing to go there in great enough numbers.

4. Vermont! My dream state. You have no idea how much I fantsize about moving there.
I actually go on Craigslist all the time and look for real estate for sale. I just don't know which part of the state we would/should live in. I lived in New England for 20 years and I don't miss the winters, but living in the state of Bernie Sanders, and Howard Dean and where Brattleboro voted to impeach Bush could be worth the aggrevation!
