2. You might want to check out the discussion over here:

I had hoped that more people would join in with their thoughts.

Any new set of laws has a new set of enforcement mechanisms, and that's the kernel of truth that underlies the fears being marketed by the baggers.

3. the freedoms that have been taken under Ray-Gun and the BFEE
but, see, they only protest the loss of these freedoms when a rethug isn't in office.

Rest assured: If Gramps McCain was in office right now, there would be nary a word about the loss of our 'freedoms'.

10. But we would actually be losing freedoms!
I'm sure we would have seen Patriot Act 2.0 or some other such nonsense.

7. the "freedom" to take their "choice" from the "free market"
Edited on Sat Sep-12-09 12:27 PM by MisterP
that's their golden calf: they don't LIKE goal-oriented groups; they want profit to flow, so they can buy 3 shares of stock, or something (and that's another freedom)
they see the market as the greatest good, even if something public could do it better (and, of course, they believe that private is always better and more efficient than government: have they ever worked in retail?)
when "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" made the insane comment that colonialism "strikes at the most basic human right, the right to bargain in a free marketplace," he didn't invent this claptrap. He writes in a long line of capitalism-worshippers who believe that it provides the most individual freedom, and that's what's best for society. That's why "bourgeois" is a pejorative...

11. If they really believed that,
they would SUPPORT the public option. You would think that more choice and more competition = greater freedom.

Unfortunately, these people aren't thinkers.

9. Who knows what freedom. If you ask those idiots why they are
demonstrating or what do they want - you really don't get an answer. Nothing like a rally to demonstrate against ?????? whatever ??.

13. The freedom to be the white majority in this country.
After the last week or so, I'm pretty much convinced that the deep-down core issue is race and nothing more.
