NEW YORK (AP) - Marchers in New York City's Labor Day parade have observed a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

More than 50,000 members representing 400 unions marshaled for the New York City Central Labor Council's solidarity march Saturday on Fifth Avenue. The moment of silence was held at 10:30 a.m. at the reviewing stand.

The parade is traditionally held the week after the Labor Day weekend, making it a popular stop for candidates heading into Tuesday's political primaries.

It also marked an opportunity for the labor council to showcase its top current priorities: health care reform and a congressional proposal that would make it easier for workers to organize unions.

3. Not so much on DU either.

I guess it just isn't controversial enough for prevalent tastes.
