One last comment on today's Freeper party
Approximately 50,000 of then showed up today. In spite of the frothing by the Reich-wing tooth holes.

RIGHT NOW in Richmond, the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway is happening (ABC).

The stadium holds 112,029.

It is sold out.

"Nuff said, the Freepturds are simply over.

20,000 hopeful forward thinking Americans gathered to push for affordable health care for all Americans - including the fearful bigoted Hateriots disgracing our nation's capital.

6. It was just another Saturday in DC -
consider what happened last time we had a REAL CROWD in DC:

the roads leading into the city were closed down the night before.

No hotel rooms were available.

Several thousand PortaPotties were distributed, maybe more.

All police were called in - all of them.

Sharpshooters on building roofs.

Smithsonians closed.

None of that took place today. It was just another demonstration, nothing exceptional. There was another gathering taking place at the other end of the Mall, the Black Family Reunion, an annual event - this year was its 24th, and it had a very good crowd, too.

Tourists wandered around today, in and out of museums - all the roads were open - all the restaurants were open - no sharpshooters - nothing unusual.

Just another Saturday in Washington. Nothing special happened.................

16. "The demonstrators numbered well into the tens of thousands"
The demonstrators numbered well into the tens of thousands, though the police declined to estimate the size of the crowd. Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.

The atmosphere was rowdy at times, with signs and images casting Mr. Obama in a demeaning light. One sign called him the “parasite in chief.” Others likened him to Hitler. Several people held up pre-printed signs saying, “Bury Obama Care with Kennedy,” a reference to the Massachusetts senator whose body passed by the Capitol two weeks earlier to be memorialized.

Other signs did not focus on Mr. Obama, but rather on the government at large, promoting gun rights, tallying the national deficit and deploring illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Still, many demonstrators expressed their views without a hint of rage. They said the size of the crowd illustrated that their views were shared by a broader audience.

“I want Congress to be afraid,” said Keldon Clapp, 45, an unemployed marketing representative who recently moved to Tennessee from Connecticut after losing his job. “Like everyone else here, I want them to know that we’re watching what they’re doing. And they do work for us.”

These people are a fucked up MINORITY in this country, and they deserve to be MUTED and IGNORED.

18. Those protesters don't even know what they're protesting....
that's the irony of it all. Just misplaced anger. They don't have a clue what they're talking about or what they're protesting.

As a poster upthread suggested, this was not even one of the 20 biggest crowds to gather in the country yesterday with all the college football games etc.

19. 50,000 Wouldn't Even Win ONE Congressional Seat...
I've been looking for overhead pictures...shots from either a helicopter or the Washington Monument of the Mall. You'd think if the crowd was that massive, the backers would be flooding the "tubes" with these pictures.

I was playing around with traffic cams in and around the parade route and saw maybe four blocks of marchers headed down Pennsylvania Avenue...and the shots of the mall don't include pictures by the tidal basin or beyond a few blocks of the Capitol. We saw 2 million on that Mall in January...this group didn't even come close. Hell, I'll give 'em 100,000 who showed up...still, pretty dismal for all the organizing and money spread around to pull this thing off.

At least it came off peacefully and with not much more than a wimper. People are getting tired of their poutrage.
