In remembrance of the outrageous and loveable Gov. Ann Richards
Remember Gov. Ann Richards who died on this day in 2006. A defender of progressive values who was as fierce as she was funny, Richards is one of our heroes.

7. I miss 'em both. They'd have LOVED to have been here on Nov. 4th 2008
And just before (though Ivins left us in Jan 2007 R.I.P.).

The last election would have had a whole other dimension of interesting with those two ladies involved. Hehehee!

12. I hope I live to see Bush disgraced
so far he's gotten by with every rotten thing he did - just like his father and grandfather before him.

5. I miss that audacious lady...
I met her when I was a college kid, before she announced her run for governor. She spent 10 minutes chit chatting with me, just a waitress at the Sheriff's convention, while a bunch of big-wigs waited around for her attention. I never forgot what a thrill it was to talk to her. She had that "rock star" quality.... that way of making you feel like you were the only one in the room, and that you were important enough to demand her full attention.

I used to have this as my sig.... love and miss them both so much...

6. Great Lady
I about cheered myself hoarse in 1992 when she said at the Democratic National Convention, "As far as this White House is concerned (Bush/Quayle)...honey, you can turn out the lights the party's OVER!" :applause:

9. I love that lady....we should NEVER forget her....
one of the funniest things I heard her talk about was going through airport security....with a body suit on...one with snaps in the crotch.....LOL...It was funny, but it also put a spotlight on a big problem. She really had a way with words.

RIP Ann

10. k&r for the Great Ann Richards.
I don't believe for a second that W beat her. I strongly suspect that election was stolen.

13. Her term was so frustrating
Once she got into office, the "opposition" (and a few Dems) stonewalled her at every turn.

15. Molly Ivins said that when Richards
ran against W for reelection, she didn't have her heart in it. Ivins said that if Ann had been able to see what he became after being governor had jumpstarted his political career, she would have run like a thoroughbred.

I miss Molly!
I miss Ann!

16. It's funny I was just talking about Ann and Molly Ivens yesterday
I told my son Ann & Molly would have had some choice words for the crazy right fringe.

Just imagine what Molly would've written about Gov. Perry's 10th amendment talk, Wilson's rude "you lie" shout, and all the loony things said and done by the birthers, tea-baggers, deathers, and the rest of the loons. I sure would've enjoyed reading her columns.

Rest in Peace, Ann & Molly. Sure do miss hearing your voices. Sincerely, I do.

17. I loved her dearly - 20,000 marched down Congress Ave -
taking the Capitol back for the people in Texas in January 1991. It was a great day.

Ann Richards was a special person. She is missed.
