"We own this country" and "You work for us"
What is that all about?

I've seen those refrains repeated often by the Glenn Beckers.

I feel like people are taking it to mean that their elected officials are required to do what they personally want them to.

Do they not understand the concept of elections and constituencies?

They are so angry when they are yelling it - it seems that some believe that when Obama or any Democrat says something or supports a policy that they personally do not agree with, that somehow this is some kind of violation or criminal act.

Also, I hate to bring this up, but does anyone see any racial undertones behind those two phrases - "own" and "work for us" ?

1. I'm guilty
I believe the Left 'owns' this country' and the WH, House, and Senate should be working for us (The Left).

What's funny? Those people didn't vote for the President. They own McCain and Sarah Canadastan.

2. Actually those statements are true
We the people do in fact own this country and these elected officials do work for us. That's what it says in the books anyway. The problem with these assholes is that that never said jack shit for 8 years while the last team of hired help (cheney gang of thugs) was wiping their ass with the constitution and spending the country into bankruptcy.

It's purely selective outrage with them. And it has nothing to to with big government, health care, deficits or anything else. They're just pissed that a black guy got elected president and they're still living on a disability check in their mama's basement.

3. But that doesn't mean they must do the bidding of each individual voter
That would, of course, be impossible, yet it seems to be the way some are reading it.

4. Very true. What you are describing is anarchy
What they REALLY want is authoritarian rule where they can trade freedom for security (protection from icky people with darker skins than them).

5. "never said jack shit for 8 years" other than "Why do you hate America?" when
THEIR "boy" was questioned ...

and now, they say "No, I'm not a Republican. I'm an Independent! And I didn't like McCain ..."
